Chapter 4: The Fiancée
The room fell into a heavy silence.
Sophie looked at Daniel, then at the woman standing at the door.
Victoria was tall, elegant, and beautiful. She wore a red designer dress and high heels that clicked loudly on the marble floor as she walked closer.
Her eyes never left Sophie.
“So,” Victoria said coldly, “you bring women home now?”
Daniel’s expression remained calm.
“You’re overreacting.”
Victoria laughed bitterly.
“Overreacting? Daniel, there is a stranger in your house in the middle of the night!”
Sophie quickly raised her hands.
“Wait… I think I should explain.”
Victoria turned sharply to her.
“I wasn't talking to you.”
Sophie’s face hardened immediately.
“Excuse me?”
Victoria crossed her arms and looked Sophie up and down with clear judgment.
“Girls like you are always the same. Waiting outside rich men’s houses, hoping to get lucky.”
Sophie felt anger rising inside her.
“First of all,” she said firmly, “I didn't come here for your fiancé.”
Victoria smirked.
“That’s what they all say.”
Before Sophie could respond, Daniel suddenly stepped forward.
“That’s enough, Victoria.”
His voice was firm and cold.
Victoria looked shocked.
“You’re defending her?”
Daniel sighed.
“I brought her here because it was raining and she had nowhere to go.”
Victoria folded her arms.
“You expect me to believe that?”
Sophie was already grabbing her bag.
“Actually, you don't have to believe anything.”
She turned toward the door.
“I’m leaving.”
But before she could walk away—
Daniel grabbed her wrist gently.
“Wait.”
Sophie looked back at him.
“What now?”
Daniel’s voice became quieter.
“You shouldn't leave in this rain.”
Sophie pulled her hand away.
“That sounds like a problem for someone who doesn't bring strangers home.”
Victoria smirked again.
“Smart girl.”
Sophie walked toward the door angrily.
But just as she was about to leave—
Daniel said something that made her stop immediately.
“Victoria and I are not getting married.”
Both women turned to look at him in shock.
Victoria’s face went pale.
“Daniel… what are you talking about?”
Daniel looked directly at Sophie.
“The engagement was never my choice.”
The room suddenly felt tense.
And Sophie realized something strange.
This story between Daniel and Victoria…
was much more complicated than she thought.
