Alvina's Point of View
“I'm getting married today, ma'am, I hope you keep your end of the bargain.” I narrowed my gaze at Ruth as she smirked, clearing her throat.
The makeup artist was done, so she bowed and gave us privacy.
She exhaled deeply and placed her hand on my shoulder while staring at me through the mirror.
“As long as you are completely out of sight, I will continue to pay for Jordan's medication.” She assured me with a creepy smile.
“We will have to sign a con…” I was still speaking when a short knock came on the door and Richard walked in, looking anxious.
“I didn't know you were here.” He muttered and she shook her head.
“I'm done and already leaving.” She approached the exit and stopped halfway closer to him.
“You know it's a bad omen to see the bride before the ceremony.” She whispered and left the dressing room without another word.
I blushed as he rushed over, giving me a long look.
“Did you miss me? We just have a few minutes left before the…” I trailed off when he quickly grabbed my arm.
“Yes, we do have some time left and I badly need your help, Alvina.” He said desperately and I looked at him, confused.
“Help with what?” My brows furrowed.
“Your blood.” He paused and I could already imagine what he wanted to say but it was insane.
“I need your blood. Nora is weak and can't witness our union. She would die without a donor and you are the only one that can help.” He rambled at my face impatiently and I sighed.
“Even on my wedding day I still have to do this, huh?” I curled my lips and got silent as his response.
“We don't have time for this banter, Alvina. The earlier you help me, the better for our wedding to be held.” He urged me but for some reason, his words sounded like a threat.
It felt as if I was forcing him to do something he never wanted to do.
“Richard, I'm dying. Nora isn't the only victim here, I'm also dying but trying to stay strong at the same time.” I cried at his face and he smirked.
“A little blood from you won't cause any harm. You must come with me!” He didn't wait to hear my next statement or for my permission, he dragged me out of the dressing room.
I looked like a fool. He had no respect for me.
I sat there, in his hotel room, watching him discuss anxiously with the doctor as the doctor injected me and extracted my blood.
“Will that be enough? Take as much blood as you want.” He informed the doctor seriously.
“Seriously?” I laughed in pain.
He saw me as nothing but his mistress' blood bank.
He would have done this on an ordinary day but on my wedding day?
He was really despicable and for once, I had a second thought about my decision.
“Gosh! My gown is stained.” I groaned at the sight.
The pain from the sharp injection didn't ache, but that of the wedding dress that I rented with my last penny caused me pain, he rolled his eyes away from me and focused more on Nora.
“You can easily get that washed up.” He scoffed.
“I'll go change.” I stood up.
“No need. Just head to the altar and I'll meet you here.” He ordered coldly.
“Like this? Tattered, weak, and with a stained wedding dress?” I asked him rhetorically and he nodded, without looking at me.
I walked into the kitchy-looking hall. The hall was old and had a bad smell, and the chandelier above the ceiling constantly shook as if it would fall at any time. The decoration was wack and nothing dreamy.
The guests were mainly his relatives and ma'am Ruth, who couldn't wait to see me get married.
“What's taking them too long?” Someone complained at the gathering.
I stood in front of the tired-looking priest for a long time and there was no sign of Richard.
When the door pulled open, I gasped in relief, thinking it was time to start the ceremony but it was a false alarm.
A gorgeous middle-aged man, dressed in a black tuxedo suit walked into the hall with confident strides, his brown hair perfectly primped.
He looked attractive but I tried not to make it obvious that I was looking at him. Inwardly, I knew who he was. He was Richard's father. For some reason, he made the atmosphere feel so hot and intimidating.
“Why is he here?” I muttered.
He wasn't on good terms with Richard, so he was likely not to be invited.
“Hey, you! Where is your groom?!” I heard Ruth's irritating voice roar in the air, questioning me.
I was also embarrassed and ashamed of myself that I couldn't tame my legs from moving.
I dropped the flower on a bench and ran out of the hall.
Our hotel room wasn't so far from the free event hall.
Gathering my wedding dress with my hands, I wandered in the hallway, searching for Richard's room.
“Richard, I…” The door partly opened, I froze for a moment when I caught sight of the action happening in the room.
“Richard!” I screamed in agony, unable to lay low or control my emotions.
“What the hell are you doing??” I made a comeback angrily.
Rather than getting off her ass, he continued banging into Nora and hitching loudly, so loud, and intentional so I could hear.
“What does it look like? I'm f*****g the woman I love on my wedding day.” He spilled bluntly and Nora laughed in excitement.
“What?” In the end, I was the fool to believe that he would change, he would love me again or treat me better.
“So, is this what I deserve? After all these years! After everything I have done for you and this w***e! Is this how you choose to repay me?” I lashed at them in anger, my neck vein straightened, as I was unable to hold it in anymore.
He approached me. I knew he would come for me. I knew he would choose me in the end.
“Go bark in the street since you're a dog. We are done.” He spat at my face in disgust as he banged the door.
“Richard!!” I clenched my fist, bit my lips, and groaned in pain.
My heart had shredded pieces and this was the highest I could take.
Forgetting that it was my wedding and I was still dressed in my wedding dress, I rushed out of the building and away from the wedding venue.
He didn't deserve my love and neither would I kill myself in other to make a man love me.
There were other ways to protect my brother, not being a lackey for this wicked son of a b***h.
“Richard… I promise to make you crumble on your knees and ask for forgiveness. I will pay you back for this pain and humiliation you've caused.” I gritted my teeth in fury.
Unfortunately, he didn't follow me, I was less important to me and I didn't need to be informed that he dumped me for his lover.
The hospital was bustling with activities, with doctors rushing into the emergency rooms and some visitors crying.
“Hello, I'm here for Jordan,” I informed the nurse at the receptionist desk in the reception hall.
“Jordan? Kindly speak with Dr. Richester.” She said steadily, pointing over to him as she went to take care of other people's needs.
“Doctor Rich. Doctor Rich!” He was about to enter a room when I quickly held him, and he turned in my direction.
“Alvina.” He looked shocked to see me.
“What's going on? Where is Jordan?” I asked him anxiously.
“Didn't Mrs. Ruth give you the information?” He asked, raising a confused brow.
“Information? What do you mean?” I didn't know what he was trying to say as I gave him a serious stare.
“Jordan is dead.” He announced vividly and my jaw dropped.
“What? My brother?” My eyes widened in disbelief as it felt as if I had heard something wrong.
I staggered backward, and then a sharp ache came.
He was about to leave and I grabbed him by his collar, looking serious and anxious.
“What do you mean? Are you sure about this? How did he die? I met him only a few days ago! What happened to him?” I queried him in annoyance as he tried to escape from my grip.
“There was nothing we could do, Alvina. Besides, Mrs. Ruth cut off his payment for weeks now.” He spilled bluntly, staring into my eyes and I gasped in shock.
“What?” I felt suffocated and confused as I shook my head in disbelief.
Why would she do something wicked like this after pushing me to the wall?
No!
