Alvina's Point of View
“Take a seat, let's talk,” Leon said calmly, dropping the plate and taking his seat opposite me.
I swallowed hard, taking several deep breaths before I was stable enough to move from the spot I was standing.
I sat on the bed, scanning the room for my clothes.
If I was properly dressed, I might be able to think of a solution to the problem in front of me.
“I already sent for new clothes, just relax,” Leon said firmly, tapping his feet impatiently. He seemed to have read my mind.
“Y…yes Sir, thank you, Sir,” I mumbled shyly, adjusting myself on the bed.
He was actually very caring, paying attention to every detail that concerned me.
It made me sad that I met him at this point in my life, but this mess was something I needed to clear up as soon as possible.
“Listen, Sir,” I said boldly, grabbing the bedsheets to stop my shaking hands.
“I made a mistake, yesterday was the worst day of my life. I just wanted to die when I met you. I wasn't thinking clearly, and I just wanted to feel a little pleasure to help me forget my pain. I apologize for everything that happened Sir, please let me go, Sir,” I said in a shaky voice, avoiding eye contact with him.
I cleared my throat waiting for what he was going to say, I just hoped he couldn't smell my fear from where he sat.
“What made yesterday the worst day of your life, tell me about it,” Leon responded with concern, ignoring the other things I had said.
I stared at him in amusement and shock, I just couldn't understand this man.
He had an unreadable expression on his face but his eyes were filled with care and concern.
“Talk to me darling,” he whispered softly, walking up to the bed and sitting close to me.
He stared into my eyes for a very long time and then took my lips in a sweet kiss.
My entire body melted into his as I returned his kiss with the same passion and intensity he gave me.
“Tell me what is bothering you, darling, I want to take it away,” he whispered softly, against my lips.
I couldn't think of anything else but everything I wanted to tell him, how I wanted to pour out my heart to him and I did.
I told him everything that had happened from Richard's betrayal to Jordan's death and even to Ruth's threat to fake my death and take everything my parents had left.
By the time I was done explaining, I was already sobbing deeply, the tears were flowing uncontrollably, and my nose was running, I was a complete mess.
“It's okay darling, everything will be fine, I am here now,” he whispered gently, holding me in his arms and comforting me.
I cried until I couldn't cry anymore and soon I slept off in his arms again.
“Get it done now, no excuses!” Leon said firmly, ending the call abruptly as I began to open my eyes.
“Good evening darling,” He said gently, walking up to me and caressing my face.
“Good evening Sir,” I said shyly, as I sat up in the bed, hurrying to cover myself with the duvet.
“Your clothes are in the bathroom,” he said calmly, walking towards the window.
He looked very disappointed but I couldn't tell why.
“Thank you, Sir,” I said quietly, grateful for his consideration.
Immediately I entered the bathroom, I saw a short red dress, the most beautiful dress I had laid eyes on, it had small white pearls on it, making it the perfect dress, fit a lady.
“I don't deserve this dress,” I whispered in sadness, as I walked out of the bathroom with the duvet covering my body.
“Didn't you see the dress?” Leon asked in surprise, approaching me as he spoke.
I froze on the spot I stood, not knowing what else to do.
“I saw the dress Sir, but I would prefer my old clothes Sir, please tell me where it is.” I said firmly, holding back tears, I really liked that dress, but I didn't deserve it.
“Why? Don't you like the dress?” He asked in shock, halting in his tracks.
“I can't afford that dress, Sir,” I said flatly, finally seeing my old dress and walking towards it.
I wore my dress quickly, taking a deep breath as I faced the door and prepared to walk out of it and damn the consequences.
“I am really sorry Sir, this was all a misunderstanding. Please forgive me, but I need to leave here now Sir.
I took a deep breath and walked towards the door but as I held the door handle, he finally spoke.
“Don't you want revenge?” He asked calmly, making me turn around to face him.
“Do you want all of them to go unpunished?” He asked again, looking me in the eyes.
He looked even more angry than I had thought and I couldn't tell if that anger was channeled at me or at the people who had wronged me.
“I am already dying, there is nothing more I can do and besides that, I have nothing and no one, there is no way I can fight back,” I said honestly, turning towards the door and preparing to leave his room for good.
All my life I had done Ruth's bidding, hoping to save my brother and get a chance for revenge, but where did that leave me?
My brother and I were at her mercy until she murdered him ruthlessly. In the end, I never got a chance for revenge.
“This world is a place for only the rich and powerful and, unlike you Sir, I have neither of these qualities, so I know I don't stand a chance,” I said truthfully, as I continued to walk towards the door again.
It hurt me a lot that I couldn't do anything to avenge myself and my brother, but I had decided to live out the rest of my few days in peace.
“Then let me help you,” he said firmly, taking me by surprise.
