Zack's POV
The moment Lola's lips touched mine, every thought in my head disappeared. For a few seconds, I could not move or even process what she had done. She had kissed me first, and the surprise of it was enough to break through every rule I had created around our arrangement.
I looked at her closely, expecting her to pull away or realize that she had made a mistake, but she did neither. Her fingers remained curled into my shirt, keeping me close, and there was something reckless about the way she looked at me that I had never seen before.
“Lola…”
My voice sounded lower than usual, but she only looked at me for another second before pulling me toward her again. That was when I stopped pretending I had any control over the situation.
