Thomas paused in the doorway, scanning the interior of the house. It was dim inside, despite the hearth fire and the flickering candles on the table pushed up against the back wall. Wulfram stood before the table, his eyes gleaming in the dusky light, a faint shimmer outlining his form. Godric stood beside Wulfram, wreathed in shadows, a sardonic smirk twisting his lips. And Aidan stood to his left with a Fey behind him, holding a knife against his throat. There was no sign of Merton and his family. The Unseelies must have drawn them away from the holding. At least he hoped so. The other possibility didn’t bear thinking about. Thomas drew on his power to give him more energy.
