Chapter Four
Descent into madness.
Taking another deep breath and pushing deep rooted anxiety aside, I entered the station, eyes fixed on the kid in front. Gremlin had established a solid lead, thanks to my apprehension. He bolted down the last few stairs of the subway entrance, taking two steps at a time before he hit the main thoroughfare. I followed suit, but he was too fast and nimble and extended his lead.
By the time my foot left the bottom step, I could just barely make out the elbow of Gremlin’s green hoodie in the seething mass of sweating people.
