Chapter Four Descent into madness. Taking another deep breath and pushing deep rooted anxiety aside, I entered the station, eyes fixed on the kid in front. Gremlin had established a solid lead, thanks to my apprehension. He bolted down the last few stairs of the subway entrance, taking two steps at a time before he hit the main thoroughfare. I followed suit, but he was too fast and nimble and extended his lead. By the time my foot left the bottom step, I could just barely make out the elbow of Gremlin’s green hoodie in the seething mass of sweating people. The steps led down one level, then another, steadily descending deeper into the bowels of the city.
