The next moment, Ethan swam toward Jenna and took her into his arms. The waves carried me farther away from them. He glanced back over his shoulder.   "Summer, hold on a little longer. I'll be right back for you."   The pain in my leg was excruciating. I tried to stay afloat, but with every struggle, I sank deeper.   He could see how much pain I was in.   Yet he still pried my fingers off the rescue rope first, pushing Jenna toward shore as fast as he could.   Suddenly, a memory from our teenage years flashed through my mind, sharp and bitter.   He'd tied our wrists together with a piece of rope back then, grinning at me.   "Don't be scared.
