CHAPTER FOURTEEN As Jenn pulled their car into the school parking lot, Riley felt unsettled by the sight of cheerful teenage girls climbing onto a yellow bus. The soccer game had apparently just ended, and the kids looked so innocent, so unsuspecting. Do they have any idea of the evil that’s out there? Riley wondered. Surely they had heard about Katy Philbin’s death by now. But Riley reminded herself that kids were like that. The horror wasn’t real to them. They were too young to grasp it. And their innocence made them all the more vulnerable. She saw that COBBTOWN HIGH was written across side of the bus, so she knew that the girls boarding it were on the visiting team.
