Chapter Thirty Four
We arrive in Halifax and drive straight to my aunt’s place where Alexia is waiting for me with my aunt Guinevere. As soon as we arrive, I get out of the car and run to Alexia who is standing outside on the porch, waiting for me. Alexia brings her hands up to my face, completely shocked by my appearance. “Oh, my dear Rose. What did that man do to you?” She reaches her hands out and gently wraps her arms around me, pulling me into her arms. Tears start to form in my eyes, letting myself feel the pain in the presence of my love. I’m so glad to be home and to feel her arms around me again. Annabelle walks over to Alexia and I, stopping a foot away from us to give us space. Daniel comes behind her, sliding his arms around her waist.
