Worst Day

1001 Words
I got home from work with a lot of things in mind, primarily my embarrassing encounter with my boss. I am planning to go to my favorite bar tonight but I cannot afford to go to the office with the biggest hung over tomorrow. “Gosh! This is soo not me.” I whispered to myself while opening my fridge. I took out an orange juice and poured on my glass. I noticed that I am out of groceries so I decided to change my outfit and go to the nearest grocery shop. I put on my sneakers and leggings and paired it with my favorite crop top. I decided to walk for an exercise since the shop wasn’t really that far. I put on my airpods and blasted my ears with my favorite songs. The sun was about to set which gave an artistic color to the glasses of buildings and other establishments. The warm wind touched my skin and gently moves my hair which gave me the relaxing feeling I badly needed. I stopped on the shop near the big tree just 10 minutes away from my apartment, this is by far the only tree in this city. I got my cart and some stuff I need until I reached the liquor sector, might as well get some. I am trying to reach a whiskey but it was placed too high for my height, sucks to be only 5’6. I attempted to reach it again when someone on my back gently giggled “Sorry just can’t help but laugh, here, let me get it for you” I looked at her just as she reached it with her right hand while her left hand grabbed on the shelf for support right above my shoulder. Her rich cinnamon scent was so hypnotizing that I didn’t realize how awkward our position is. My face was almost at the center of her chest and our body was inches close. She got the whiskey and looked at me, “fan of whiskey, are we?” she said while handing me the bottle. “yeah, sort of. Thanks!” I nervously get the liquor from her hands. She seems older than me, her long straight blonde hair flows freely until her elbows, her blue lively eyes matched perfectly with her skin tone. I came to my senses when I felt her warm breath just around the corner of my lips, I fastly moved my head to the right side to prevent her lips to touch mine. “I’m sorry, I am not into girls. I’m- straight” I said while still looking away, she moved apart from me and whispered “you sure? Hope that’ll change soon, you’re really beautiful” I stepped away instantly when I heard her words and before anything could happen, I still feel her stare at my back but tried to regulate my breathing when I was in the counter. Could this day be any worst? I need to get home and lock myself in.               I entered my apartment and cooked some pasta for dinner, my 28 years of existence made me really good in cooking, only for pasta though. I washed my plates and washed myself in the bathroom and changed into my oversized shirt and pajama. The relaxing feeling when not wearing a bra is lit! I watched You on Netflix until my eyes got heavy. I hardly opened my eyes when I heard a notification sound from my phone. Checking my phone, I noticed it was quarter to four in the morning, too early for a message. I unmindfully opened my email and see miss Storm’s message “I need you at 6:00 am today, do not be late,” at what? Six AM? Who would go to work that early? I groaned but still got up from my bed and decided to go for a Jog for 30 minutes, I cannot sleep anyway. It was a bit cold outside so I’m wearing my sweater and leggings. I arrived at a nearby park and decided to sit for a while and just appreciate the silence of the city. The bench was cold and so with the blowing air. This sometimes is my favorite time of the day here in the city, it was like a calm wave of the ocean, no people and no noises. I felt my phone vibrating on the pocket of my jacket. It was my mom, I haven’t heard from her since like 6 months ago. I just don’t like talking about marriage, she’s always pushing me on someone’s son. I answered shortly after some rings “Mom?..”  but the other line is silent “you’re making me nervous mom, please talk” I plead as I bit the tip of my thumb. “I got my results from the hospital ” she said with a slight sob. “And? What did they say? Please just tell it straightly, you are making me so nervous” I replied with a shaking voice. “My heart was failing…………and, they advised me to have a heart transplant as soon as possible” my tears continuously fell from my eyes as I heard her words “Since when are you sick mom? Why didn’t I know that?”  I heard her sob on the other line “it does not matter when sweetie, I’m so sorry I kept it from you” “we’ll schedule your transplant right away” I said while silently grasping some air. “we can not afford that sweetie, we have so much bills on us” she replied. “I’ll find a way, I have work now mom, a stable one do not worry I will make sure you get better” I ended the call with heavy heart. I can’t afford to lose her, my tears continuously flowed from my eyes down to my cheeks. I got up from my seat and walked back towards my apartment.
