She’d been way too hot when she escaped from the forced-air-heated condo. Her six-block hike on unshaded concrete sidewalks hadn’t cooled her off.
Dressed in in her faded Wranglers and a yellow cotton Tee, she’d had no problem with the seventy-five-degree temperature earlier.
She’d been so eager to get inside the condo, she’d speed-walked over to meet Mindy and the home inspector. Pushing her work problems out of her mind, she’d wallowed in anticipation.
Once indoors, she hovered with Mindy while the inspector zipped around, running water from the faucets, flushing the toilets, and turning on the lights.
The gurgling water and blinking lights gave her a thrill, all her utilities in fine shape.
