Chapter 15

2090 Words
Aria's POV After that jerk, Xaar, left me all high and dry, following our little rendezvous in the locker room, I did what any self-respecting girl would do. Rushing back to the shower cubicle, I let my hands travel south to find those oh-so-needy pleasure centers that had been aching forever now. And then I m*********d the hell out. Tuning out the constant nagging and knocking from Sole and every other noise, I focused on the only thing that was important at that time, and that was the ache that had settled in between my legs. Mate bond be damned, it was the ultimate curse, at least for me. However, even I had to admit that the only boon that it provided was that there was ample stimulus to masturbate about. The only problem was that it meant that I had m*********d thinking about that jerk. And as much as I hated the idea of it, I had to agree that it was a good release, probably one of the best. And while that jerk mate of mine might have indirectly helped me in a self-pleasure session, it did not change anything. He was an asshole, and I was going to reject him once in a blue moon. *** Twenty minutes later, I was standing in the dean's office, listening to the receptionist speak into the intercom as she waited for a reply from York. "Alpha York. Aria White is here to see you." My impromptu release surely had me feeling much more relaxed than I was when I heard about the disciplinary action mess. However, I was still a little nervous about meeting York. Yesterday, I was able to evade both York and his questions, so much so that I even avoided sharing my name with him. So, clearly, he was not expecting his mate. I wondered how he would react, knowing that it was me. "Just go right in; he is waiting for you." The lady pointed me towards the double doors, which had two large vases of fresh Angel Trumpets guarding them. For a flower that rare, they were certainly around here a lot. Before I even pushed through the heavy doors, a warm voice greeted me. "Welcome, little mate!" As I entered the room, I found myself in a space that exuded an air of overstated class, with dabbers of flashy pieces around. It was extravagant in a clinically cold way, a complete contrast to the person who occupied it. There he was, York Raven, sitting behind a large, pristine desk with his bright, dimpled smile. The raven hair, sharp jawline, their eyes, and the clift chin made the family resemblance undeniable between the three brothers. Still, they hardly looked alike. They were each handsome and ultra-hot in their own unique way. York was textbook handsome, with flying hair, bright gray eyes, and a warm, dimpled smile that left one giddy. He certainly did justify the title 'the sweet mate'. It was a shame that my wolf was still a little too hungover on the bad boy Alpha, but then that would tend to happen, especially when I orgasmed thinking about him mere minutes ago in the shower. Maybe that was the reason I had better control in front of York as well. My wolf and I agreed that he was no less hot than his brothers, and while he had my heart racing, he did not have my panty pooling both times. But I was sure it was not him, but more the timing of our meeting. While yesterday I was all flustered and out of sorts when I ran into him, today my body was humming with s****l content. "Have a seat, little mate!" He gestured towards the chair that was in front of me, still smiling and genuinely pleased to see me. As I walked towards his desk, his eyes freely roamed my exposed legs as I made my way toward the intended seat. "I don't remember telling you my name yesterday." I was direct about it, after all, he had called me 'little mate', so I saw no reason From his expressions, it was clear that he knew what I meant to ask, but he chose to ignore it. "And there was no way you could have smelled me with so many Angel Trumpets around." I sure could not pick up his scent from outside the door, so there was no way that he would have recognized mine either, not with so many Angel Trumpets to mask our scent. "You know about angel trumpets?" He c****d his eyebrows. "I must say, I am impressed. Not many know about its properties." His smile widened as he complimented me, trying to evade the incoming question. "You knew who I was when we met yesterday. Didn't you?" I stated the obvious. My question was met with complete silence from his end; it was like he had not heard it at all as the same smile played on his lips. Honestly, it was not a big thing, and it certainly was not a life-or-death situation. But then, it was also not a situation that warranted lying either, and that did not sit well with me. And it was just strange that he chose not to recognize me. Maybe I was being paranoid because of my experience with Sole, which had me overreacting about the whole lying thing. In all likelihood, it was nothing. "Let's talk about why you are here," York suggested, changing the topic as he picked up a file from his desk. "This says that you have a disciplinary action pending against you." He tried to sound stern. "And that too, on your first day." My brain racked at various possibilities for what I could have done. Trespassing, making out with a married man? "As per this, you were found drunk on campus," York informed me. Drunk? This was about me being drunk? Well, it was certainly better than the other two, but still, being drunk was not a big deal in college. Not that anyone promoted it; it was just natural teenage stuff. There was no way they were so serious about it. Also, I was never drunk, drunk. I was barely tipsy, and I can't think of anything that I would have done on campus to warrant any suspicion. "There must be a mistake," I offered. "I can assure you that I was not drunk on campus." "I would have taken your word, but I happen to have it on record." York was adamant about not letting this go, as he pointed to a piece of paper in his hand. "Someone saw you while you were completely intoxicated." I narrowed my eyes at him. Who could have complained about me? I was sure that no one saw me in that state. There was no way Max and Jacob were going to say anything. "Well, may I know who made the complaint? Because it is foolish to even think that I would ever do such a thing." I defended myself. He didn't think I would fight it out. "It was anonymous," York was quick to answer. "Someone just dropped it in the drop box." Dropbox? Really? "To be honest, I am surprised that you are acting on a complaint from DropBox." tried to argue my case. "Also, I am surprised that the dean of Ravenwood would be very busy looking at some anonymous complaints about anyone, and that too from a drop box." York refused to give in to my attempt to get the complaint dismissed as he got up from his chair and started taking measured steps toward me. "You are not anyone now, are you?" He c****d his eyebrow. "And I am interested in everything related to you, even an anonymous complaint." I could see where this was heading now, but I refused to back down. "Even when it is not true." I retorted. "We both know the truth here, Ms. White, so let's not deny it." It was him. There was no anonymous complaint in the drop box. I was sure of it. He must have smelled the traces of alcohol on my breath when I bumped into him yesterday. It made sense because I was sure no one would have guessed it if they were not within one foot of me. Why did he want to get me into trouble? If this was a way to see me again, it was surely a poor choice. Maybe his intentions were not completely wrong, but I was not the one who was going to give in to this power play. "And according to our Code of Conduct, which you signed as a part of your admission forms, drinking on campus is a punishable offense." York pushed the hardbound booklet that he had picked from the sideboard towards me, pointing it at the page that he had opened. The alcohol prohibition rule was not new news to me, but when he handed me the booklet of the Code of Conduct, I glanced over the text out of politeness until something caught my eye. "Now, coming back to the complaint, shall we discuss your punishment?" York pointed it out as he came to stand right behind my chair. "We can file a formal complaint, and a disciplinary committee can review it and decide the course of action." I could feel the smile playing on his lips as he whispered the next words in my ears. "Or I can take it up personally. I could think of a few other ways to punish you." His hand traced the edge of my shorts as he said that. My heart raced at the suggestive tone in his voice, but I refused to let it show on my face. The mate bond urged me to give in to the punishment he was promising, but I was done letting these gays dictate the game. I turned to look at him as I evaluated his empty threats that bordered on dark flirting, matching the mysterious glint in his eyes. It was obvious that he was trying to get my attention, and I could sense his desire for a reaction as he played on the underlying chemistry of the mate bond. Instead, I maintained my composure as I said my next words, playing the cards that York had handed me by mistake. "All that punishment would have been valid if I had broken any law, which I have not." "Like I told you someone saw you when you were drunk." He was enjoying this little game far too much. "Walking around the campus." "Is that what the complaint says, that I was walking on campus drunk? Did they see a bottle in my hand, or did they see me consuming it?" "There was no bottle, just the stench of alcohol," York explained as he waved the paper in front of me, which seemed to be the complaint that he was referring to. Having gotten the confirmation I needed, I stood up, smiling brightly. I pushed the Code of Conduct booklet back into his hands. "Well, in that case, there is no point in this discussion," I said, pointing my finger at the paragraph I wanted him to read in the booklet. Consumption or possession of alcoholic beverages is prohibited in the corridors and common areas, such as lounges or lobbies, of university residence facilities. "You see, your policy states that the possession or consumption of alcohol on the premises is prohibited, but since there is no proof that I brought alcohol on the premises or consumed it here, there is no basis for a complaint." "And it does not say anything about being drunk on campus, just about consuming or possessing it on campus." I reiterated. "Not that I was drunk like I mentioned earlier." York was quick to cover the irritation that marred his face after the little setback that he had just faced. Even as he forced back a smile, it was clear that he was not happy about his plan falling through the cracks. "Now that this is sorted, I should see myself out," I suggested as I moved towards the door. "It's my first day tomorrow, and I am sure you are too busy to spare any more time on something that we have established is clearly moot." And with that, I walked out, leaving him staring after me. Mate or not, I was done letting these men, or anyone for that matter, play me anymore.
