Indie POV
Waking up the next morning, my body was sore in all the right places. Places that haven’t been loved and worshiped like that in years. It felt like a really intense gym session. But naked. And with a lot more orgasms. I smiled at myself. I go to move towards the bathroom, but there’s a giant tattooed arm pinning me to a hard body. A very hard body. All the way down. Oh. My.
“Reid, I need to pee.” He loosens his arm and rolls onto his back with a hand over his eyes. I quickly use the restroom. Washing my hands, I look at myself in the mirror. I look thoroughly f****d. And I think I want Reid to look like this too. I think it’s time for me to show him what I know. The thought makes me shudder. I quickly brush my teeth, working hard on the gag reflex. Heading back to the bedroom, I see he hasn’t moved. I crawl in bed on the other side when he gets up. He turns to kiss me before going to the bathroom also. He’s in and out in two minutes, back in bed with me. Thank goodness.
We’re lying in bed, facing each other, smiling like the two idiots we are. Just as he leans in to kiss me, there’s a banging at the front door.
“Don’t move.” Reid says as he gets up, putting on just a pair of gray sweatpants, and going to open the door. I’m lying there when the front door opens, and a very loud Dad shouts through the cabin, “If you’re in here, Indiana Winter Moon, you need to answer your brother and father’s phone calls. Now sound off if you don’t want me dragging you home in whatever state you’re in!” I heard the threat in his voice, knowing Dad would charge up here, giving me time to run to the bathroom and that’s it.
“I’m here and I’m fine! I’m going to the bathroom and I’ll be home! Nothing happened!”
“That’s why Hades isn’t wearing a shirt?!”
“I’ll meet you at home, Dad!” I shouted from bed. My cheeks are burning. Of course, my dad and brother would be worried. I didn’t even tell them I was staying the night with Reid. Rolling over, I grab my phone off the nightstand. It has 22% battery left, and 5 missed calls from Dad, 10 from Kai. Another 20 texts from them, Leif, and one from an unknown number. I ignore all the known messages, and clicked the unknown number.
Unknown: You stupid b***h. You thought you could run away after the mess you created? Fine. I’ll let you have your fun, but I’m bringing you back. You had better be ready for your punishment for everything you’ve caused and done while thinking you’re smart, hiding away with your brother. And in the meantime, just know you brought this on yourself.
This has to be Jack. I'm scared, but not as scared as I used to be. Not with my Dad, brother, and all the MC around me.
Indie: f**k off, Jack. Sign the papers and let us go. We deserve better than someone who abuses his family. Any further contact needs to be through Kai. He’s my lawyer.
And I blocked the number before there could be a reply. I could feel myself going cold. He had my number. Did he know where we were? What did he mean he was bringing me back? Just me? What about Bear? I didn’t hear Reid come into the room, too deep in thought about that text that I jumped when he touched my arm.
“Sorry.” His hands immediately flew up, and he took a step back. It was his go-to maneuver when he startled me. Showing I had space, and he was no threat to me. He, as always, waited for me to initiate conversation before doing anything.
“Sorry. I was lost in thought. I got a text from Jack. It’s super threatening.” I handed my phone out to Reid. He frowned, looking more than a little pissed.
“Let’s go get breakfast with your family. We also need to talk to Kai about this. See what can be done.”
“Okay.” I said meekly. I was so worried. What happened if he followed through? I hadn’t given Jack a second thought since I’d been away from there for about a month now. Maybe six weeks, at most. I’d finally started to feel safe. I was finally letting myself be happy. And now he’s trying to drop the other shoe. I just want to stay in my safe and happy bubble.
Once we were in my cabin I shared with Kai, I knocked on his open office door. He looked up from his laptop, looking pissed as hell at me. He had papers everywhere, and his hair was pulled in all different directions. “It’s about time. I have an update in your case.”
“Me too.” He looked confused at my confession. I just handed him my phone. Reading through the text, fury burst out on his face. Grabbing his office line, pressed two numbers and started bossing someone around.
“I don’t care what you need to do! He is threatening my sis-client and using abusive language. This is why she ran in the first place. He does not need her location when this is how he treats her.” There was a pause on his end. “If you need to wake the judge up, I don’t care! I will call his office personally every hour then, until we get the protection order!” And he hung up the phone.
“Send this to me in an email. I need it with time stamps,” he handed the phone back to me as he started talking on the phone. “Good morning your honor. I know it’s early, yes. I’m very sorry sir, my client is trying to escape her violent husband, and it seems he’s found her. Yes, sir. Yes.” More silence. Then Kai looked like he could burst a blood vessel. “Your honor, if you’re insistent on seeing my client, I am insistent it is over zoom. She is finally safe, both her and her child. There has been documented proof, eyewitnesses, even physician reports from two different doctors.” The quiet is killing me. I can feel my heart beating in my ears. “Yes, Your Honor. I understand, sir.” And he hung up. Massaging his temples.
Looking at me, he looked pissed, but not at me. Everything he looked at, he seemed to be mad at. The phone, the books on the shelves, the laptop, everything. “Within the last two days, it would appear as if everything has gone to shit." Rubbing his eyes, he flopped back in his chair. "I don't even know where to start." He chuckled out. If he's laughing while talking, it's bad. Or going bad. And he's going to be pulling all of his hair out.
"It seems his lawyer is filing a motion to suppress all the evidence based on you being a married couple, and it being a private, family affair. He’s arguing that you…that you LIKE consensual-non-consensual acts. That you asked him to do that. He also had a woman pretending to be you show up and ask that all charges be dropped, so when I called this morning to find out about the status of the reports, I was told it was closed, and dismissed at your request. I’m sorry for pulling you both out of bed, but I need some extra hands to get a grip on this again.” Kai laughed, not so humorously.
“Anything you need.” Reid said, putting his arm around my waist in a protective manner.
Kai looked at the movement, nodded and asked for Prez and Houind. We might even need some other chapters to help if we were to be successful. Here’s hoping we can get this handled. With minimal damage for everyone.
"I'll make breakfast!" I said with a smile on my face. Because this is the only way to face it. With a smile.
