Pre-shifted Teens

954 Words
Prince Alpha Orion I had just finished organizing the extra patrols with my Beta Hagen when the report of the fourth missing teenager came in. That was the fourth in two months, second this month alone. The packs are looking to us for answers being the Royal Pack. I can't remember the last time I slept more than an hour at a time. “How can this happen? We have nothing, no clues or evidence” I say more to myself than to anyone in the room, while running my hand through my already messy head of black curls. I hadn't shifted for a few days and my wolf, Onix, was starting to get agitated. Being an Alpha wolf, he needs to shift at least once a day. The fact I am 22 years old and haven't yet found my mate was taking its toll on us both. I was due to travel the packs to see if I could scent her. I am beginning to believe the goddess forgot about us. “Alpha Orion sir, we can confirm the missing teen was, in fact, another male” says one of my head warriors coming into the war room. “Thank you, Harris, anything else to report?” I asked while running my hand over my now stubbly face, from lack of any kind of self-care. “Yes sir, the teen was from the Blood river pack, male and, once again, pre-shift” he answers. The look on my Beta Hagen’s face must mirror mine. “So that's a teen from each pack, including our pack,” he replies. “When should we make an announcement? Alpha, do you think we should put a curfew in place for all pre-shift teens, until we know more?” My Beta asks, looking extremely stressed. Sitting down with a defeated feeling, with no actual clue where to start. These are innocents, they don't even have their wolves to help them. “So all we know is that there are now four male teens missing, no blood, DNA or witnesses? "All we know is each teen was taken from Neutral City" I said to the room. “Yes Alpha, they have been attending some unlicensed cage fights,” Harris replies. I suddenly looked up. “Are you telling me that every missing teen was attending the same place?” My voice is almost a growl. How had I missed that bit of information? “So we have a place to start then. "I need a date and time for the next fight night”, I say, standing up, deciding to let Onix out before he rips my brain apart. Getting to the edge of the forest that surrounds the main pack house, I quickly strip, letting Onix come forward. With a giant leap, I landed on my massive paws, and shook out my shiny black fur. Taking a back seat and letting my wolf take control for a bit, I started to go over in my head what we have already got regarding the missing teens. After a couple of hours, and some hunting, I shift back quickly, get dressed and head in ready to retire for the night and hopefully get some sleep. Waking early the next morning, I felt a lot better, feeling rested with some sort of plan formed to try to catch the sick f**k who was taking these teens, and hopefully find them unharmed, but something told me it would be quite as easy as I hoped for. I arrived at the war room just before 6am, and an omega came in with a pot of fresh coffee. “Thanks Alice'' I say as she bows and leaves. I open the mind-link requesting that my Beta and head warriors join me. Ten minutes later the room is filled with my most skilled and trusted men. The only one missing is my Gamma Lex. He is visiting the south coven for other business. “So I will get started, gentleman, it seems like we have a bit of a breakthrough”, I stand and say. With everyone's attention on me, I decided to continue. “Last night, Harris informed me that all the missing teens were last seen at an organized cage fight in Neutral City. The first to ask questions was Puk. He was one of my best warriors but also the uncle to the missing teen from our pack. “Wait, are we talking about the ones held in the old warehouse just off the industrial park on the east side of the city?“ Puk asks with a frown. I look to Harris waiting for him to fill in on his findings. “Yes, those are the very ones. They are held every Friday night. It's quite a tight-knitted organization. There seems to be quite a lot of cash changing hands, the gambling is high." "Thank you, Harris, do we have an address and is it hard to get entry to?” I asked Harris. “No sir, it seems my contact can get us entry for up to five” he replied. “Thank you, Harris. So we have four days to prepare. I think we should hold off on the curfew. We don't want to alert the assailant to us or the fact we have a lead on them. That's all gents, please don't discuss this with anyone as we don't know who the perpetrator is yet, and we don't want to miss the opportunity to get our teens back.” I finish before slumping back into my seat, feeling a little more positive about the situation moving forward, even if it is only a small lead.
