The Grave Robbers
Episode 6
Written by Charles N Okere
It was a cold, stormy night with rain, accompanied by strong winds, flashes of lightning, and thunder. Wisdom drove back home after consulting the old witch. It was a long and hectic journey due to the heavy downpour.
He paced around his luxurious sitting room, sipping from a glass of Isabella Islay whiskey. As the words of the old witch repeatedly played in his mind.
Thus said the old witch: "You failed to comply with the ritual protection on the night you and your friends came to this community to steal the bones of a witch and a wizard. But the little you participated in has been what protected you for three years. A boundary spell was cast that night, making it very difficult for the ghost to torment any of you guys. If only you had obeyed and complied with the ritual protection, you would have been totally invisible to the ghost, just like your other friends who were involved in the robbery. In your case, the bonding spell was only temporary; the wizard ghost can see you during this time but can't attack you. But now, as the binding spell has elapsed, he has full capacity and control over your life."
"The only way out is for you to convince everyone involved in the robbery to come with you to the grave of the wizard. There, their lives would be exchanged for your freedom. The wizard ghost can't hurt or attack them due to an ancient dark power protecting them. The only way the wizard can take his revenge on them is when they are brought back to his grave. But if you fail to do this, you will remain a puppet in the hands of the wizard for the rest of your life."
What have I done? What have I gotten myself into? If I had known, I would have done all that Desmond instructed us to do. I guess that strange moment when everyone's flashlight turned off and mine remained on but red was the moment the wizard ghost marked my face. But it couldn't see the others due to the cleansing of their faces and the chewing of the palm fruit. Oh, I've messed up. I'm so stupid. Oh God, please help me, bring me out of this trouble. I can't betray my friends by trading their lives for my freedom. This is a clear lesson in disobedience.
He lamented, taking another sip from the glass of Isabella Islay. Suddenly, dark clouds gradually covered the sitting room, accompanied by scary whispering voices and terrifying laughter, saying there would be no peace of mind for you until you do as instructed. "Your friends' lives for your sanity." A horrifying, gouge creature dressed in a black gown of fire, with dragon wings, popped out of the cloud, laughing horribly. He looked at Wisdom and said, "Be smart, act according to your name, turn off your humanity switch and kind of emotional feeling, and be free from my wrath."
After a while, everything came back to normal. Wisdom sat on the sofa, shivering in great fear, thinking and plotting on how to betray his friends. He finally marked out a plan on how to get them all to the wizard's grave. He knew the devilish action he was about to take was a selfish one. But his hands were tied; he just had to do it for his sanity.
