I watched from the porch as Tobi held my mate’s hand and led her to his car. He opened the door gently, helped her with her seatbelt, then circled around and drove off without so much as a glance in my direction.
The pit in my stomach deepened. I realized I had messed up—badly. What the hell had I done?
