A Second chance in love

I kept my eyes on her as she sat on the stool by the breakfast bar, I felt her eyes on me while I walked and worked around the kitchen. "I made you your favorite." I said while I placed her pancakes in front of her, she smiled and smelled the air when her hot cocoa was placed in front of her. "I love it.." She cut a piece and moaned. The face she made while eating her food made me smile sadly, how I missed that carefree aura around her and how she would make those little noises when I cooked her breakfast. "I'm glad you do." She stopped chewing for a moment and looked at me as if she was trying to figure out something. "Is there something wrong?" I questioned and she shook her head, going back to her food she had a frown on her beautiful face. "You know.. You can talk to me, right?" I calmly asked and she looked at me, nodding a little but kind of hesitant. I took a deep sigh and took the dishes that needed washing. I was so deep in thought that I didn't feel her arms wrap around my waist, her face buried on my back I felt her lips move against my skin regardless that my shirt was hindering the physical contact. She was mumbling something. "Baby.. What's wrong?" I asked, staring at the window in front of me. She shook her head repeatedly. My shirt started to feel damp against my skin, she was crying... I couldn't take it anymore, so I turned around and he still held me but kept her face hidden on my chest. I watched her shoulders shake and it confirmed what I already knew. Wrapping my arms around her, I kissed the top of her head repeatedly until I got to make her stop hiding that beautiful face from my sight. Her eyes were still shut tight, tears fell slowly. I kissed her from her forehead, down to her nose, both those blushing cheeks and lastly her lips. I missed the feeling of having her lips against mine, they moved in sync. I loved how she clutched my shirt around her small hands as if she was afraid to lose me. "I'm sorry.. I'm sorry.." She whispered against my lips, the words made me frown and pull a little away from her. "Why are you sorry?" I kissed her forehead and she still continued sobbing. "I'm sorry because.. Because I lost my memory. I.. I feel useless." She sighed and went back to burying her face on my chest. "Honey.. This is not your fault, think of this as a test. A test where we'll surely come out on top." Running my fingers through her beautiful hair, I kissed her one more time and she hummed. "I love you and just because the memories in your head are gone, doesn't mean your heart has stopped beating for me. I love you and will always do, remember that." I held her close to me as she giggled at my words, she called me a cheeseball. The morning was spent talking, we watched our wedding video, she cried at the sight of it. I watched how she walked down that aisle in the cathedral of Rome and everyday, I always thanked whomever was up there.. I thanked him for bringing her in my life, for giving me a second chance in love. To love the woman I always would. She fell asleep in my arms, her breathing was even. As I watched the remaining video, the doorbell rang making me grab the controller to turn the wedding video to the security cam on the corner of the front door. There stood my father, Marcus and Luc who was making faces on the cam making me shake my head in utter disbelief. I granted access and they came in, pulling the blanket up her shoulder making her snuggle closer to me. "What did you find?" I questioned, still keeping my eyes on a sleeping Cassandra leaning against my chest. I still found it surreal that she was here with me and she was no longer in danger as long as I was here. "Well hello to you to brother." Luc answered sarcastically, they took a seat on the opposite couch. The wedding video was still playing on the television, Marcus watched it intently. He had a small smile on his lips and a few tears threatening to come out his eyes. "She's safe now.. We tracked Hank in Budapest. What he was doing there, we don't know." Dad sighed and looked at me then down at Cassandra. "She has been through hell, but she's strong. She will come around." Dad comforted me putting a hand over my knee. "I know dad and I really don't care if she lost most of her memories.. I'd rather she never remembered those horrendous things." I kissed her head and sighed. "Where did you bring him now?" I looked ay Luc who was frowning deep. "Something wrong Luc?" He looked up at me and replaced his frown with a forced smile. "Its nothing. Carry on." He abruptly stood and walked out into the garden taking a call. "Odd.. Anyway where is he?" I turned looking at my Dad and Marcus who looked at Cassandra intently. "He's back in Marcus' place. Being worked on and disposed after." Dad's voice was hard, after what the Russell's did to us and involved my sister in it - he was back to being that man who was feared more than I. The past just had a way to come back and bite us on the ass. Marcus had spoken with Marcelline, she was furious and slapped him and punched him a lot. Until she broke and cried on him, saying she missed him and that she watched Cassandra grow into the woman she thought would be theirs. Regardless that Cassandra was Antoinette's daughter with her husband, she still loved Cassandra like a mother would her own. "Take care of her Logan... She's had enough of this. It was wrong to seek vengeance, but I wouldn't blame her for being thirsty for it. From now on, I want you both to stay out of this life. Live the life you were supposed to before you even got caught in this web of misery and hatred." He stared at Cassandra who slept peacefully in my arms. "I promise." I was once again leaving the underworld with the help of people who knew that there was a better future for us, safer where we can let our children grow without drilling in their heads that everyday, their life is in danger and that they would need to always watch their backs and trust no one but family. We didn't want that for our kids, we only want them to enjoy and grow. Let them know that they should be thankful for being fortunate and to never boast but be humble. Cassandra and I had those dreams for our children and I'll make sure it stays that way until my last breath. "Well, we should get going. I want to hear what he has to say this time." The fury in Marcus' eyes were evident. I had already done my part, my wife is safe in my arms. Now i'd just have to ensure our future will be better. Which would be no problem, I watched my father and Marcus talk on their way out - for some reason I felt like there was something missing. My suspicions were confirmed when Luc walked back in the house looking crestfallen. "Hey.. What's up?" I questioned him and he sighed deeply, taking a seat on where our father just sat not too long ago. "Patricia.. She's already married." He took another deep sigh and shook his head, hiding his face in his hands. "She already chose who she wanted to be with." He chuckled humorlessly, the pain he must be going through.. I can only imagine. "Hey.. Its going to be okay." I tapped his shoulder and squeezed it reassuringly. "You'll find your second chance in love." He looked deep in my eyes and nodded, I couldn't help but lay Cassandra gently on the couch, putting a pillow under her head. I am a husband but I was first a brother and son, I am his big brother and we always have each others back. I truly believed, Luc would find his woman. I guess it really wasn't Patricia.
