“I see that's the reason you're acting up, Helena,” he finally said, his voice low but sharp like a warning. “But get this straight. You're bound to me. You're mine forever. And the earlier you realise that, the better for you.”
I froze.
The way he said “mine” sent a chill down my spine. Not fear. Something worse. Something warmer. Something I didn’t want to admit.
His eyes locked with mine. He meant every word.
A part of me wanted to scream that I wasn’t Helena. That he was falling for the wrong girl.
But another part… the one I tried so hard to silence… whispered If I were her… would I be happy?
Would I be happy to be his or even be the real Helena?
He stepped closer, and I didn’t move. Couldn't.
“I'm not yours,” I forced the words out, even though they trembled. “I’m
