the Shed: What is Unexpected Should be Expected

Chapter 2- the Boy

That cold blue, dark night in the blacked out cave, the family was sleeping, but with Jackie she was wide awake. She decided to go take a walk around the beautiful forest. She was able to smell her favorite food, a cherry pie. She started to run following the scent of the pie and as she was running she transformed into a wolf, not realizing that she just kept running. Her brother had a oneiric of her getting hurt and shot up from his dead sleep and decided to wake everyone else. His dad could sense how worried he was about his sister. The mother was sitting there just patiently meditating. After everyone calmed down, the brother decided to sit to think of a solution on how to find his sister. He told them about his dream of her getting hurt, and their dad decided to call on his best friend who was a bird and ask him to scout for their daughter. The bird had started off when the wind was blowing as if Zeus himself was trying to keep him from moving to find the kid. When he decided to wait out the wind, it seemed like a lifetime before the wind decided to die down. When Willow decided to take off he went with a burst of energy, flying high into the clouds and only a small shadow could follow. His eyes were so sharp and peeled on the ground that within a couple of miles he saw the footprints of a wolf, he flew down to get a closer look to make sure it was that of his friend’s daughters.

Jackie was still running when she finally found the cherry pie, she was so excited that her tail was wagging. She went to go pick up the cherry pie, when she realized she had paws instead of her hands. That’s when reality sunk in and she realized she transformed into a wolf, but when she didn’t know. It was the vespertine time of the day and she realized she must have been running for the past four hours, which way did she come from she cant remember, all she was doing was following the scent of the pie and while deep in thought, she didn’t hear the boy walking up behind her and that is when she felt something cold on her. Turning around facing this boy she started to shake in her spot not able to move and the next thing she knows her vision is going dark, she falls to the floor. The boy poked the wolf to see if it was unconscious or not, when he finally realized the wolf was unconscious he carried her inside the house and put her on the dog bed, he left her there while he went and made some food for the wolf. When Jakie came she tried to teleport to her family but wasn’t able to as if something was blocking her powers to leave this place. Jackie was unaware that the boy had brought her into his house and when she finally looked up he was standing in the doorway. The boy finally spocked after a few minutes of silence, “Hi there Jackie, it's nice to finally meet you.” Jackie looked at the boy in disbelief that he knew her, “How do you know my name? Who exactly are you?” The boy responded “The name is Orson, and I know you because I'm a seer.” Looking confused Jackie just looked at Orson, “A seer, what is that?” Orson slid the bowl of food to Jackie and continued to explain what a seer is to her. Jackie started to eat the food, finally understood what he was saying and felt safe with him. “I only have one question for you Orson?” He looked at Jackie “What’s the question I might have an answer.”, she responded “If you're a seer and you knew I was going to be showing up why did you knock me out and why can’t I use my powers while here?”. All he said was, “I knocked you out because there are some people who want to harm you, and I knew you wouldn’t come without a fight. The answer to your second part is because there’s an enchantment on this house that keeps your powers suppressed.”

Orson also knew about what would happen to her family if they found her so he did this to keep her safe. To Jackie's surprise Orson's food made her change back to her human form but her ears and tail still showed. “What happened, how did this change me back?” Orson just looked at her and said, “I know due to being a seer it’s something I had to learn.” He also told her how to hide her ears and tail and she practiced until she was able to hide them. “My family must be worried sick about me, they are probably looking for me as we speak.” Jackie said. “You are correct, but it will take them a day to travel to get to this house, but there is danger lurking in the shadows with them.” Looking petrified she just asked “What do u mean danger, what will happen to my family” He didn’t respond, just kept looking outside, as if he was expecting someone to be there. “Hide” is all he said to Jackie as she hid under the table with the cloth blocking the view.

She heard the door open and a husky voice spoke “I know you captured a wolf now where is it”, “It managed to escape when I went to go kill it and attacked me”, as Orson is showing an old scar to the man, “huh that scar seems pretty old it doesn’t seem new Orson” “You better not be trying to hide the wolf or else we will kill you.” “I promise you I’m not hiding the wolf Seth.” As Orson went to go say something, when Jackie sneezed and Seth asked who was at his house, knowing Orson lived alone. “It’s a family member, She came to visit me due to a death in our family. Jackie came here and met Seth, the one I’ve told you about.” Jackie, not knowing who Seth is, realized Orson wanted her to play along with him so she did. As she went walking over to the door to greet Seth she had a quick minute to make sure her tail and ears weren’t showing. “Hi Seth, it’s great to finally meet you. Orson has been telling me about your adventures, my name is Jackie, a pleasure to make your acquaintance.” Seth was shocked at how beautiful Jackie looked and was stuttering to speak, “I-I-It’s nice to meet you Jackie.” Jackie, laughing along with this little act of Orson, told them she had to go sit back down as it’s been a day trip to see Orson. Seth decided since Orson had a family member over to drop the topic and leave it for the next day. When Orson went to Jackie she ended up falling asleep on the couch, Orson just smiled and went and got a blanket for her. Orson decided that he would go and get her family and bring them to the house. As he steps outside he locks the door to make sure Seth doesn’t try anything knowing hers lurking in the shadows. Orson walked a good twenty feet from his house when he vanished into thin air, leaving nothing where he stood.
