The only love Lucy knew in life, was that of her mom and dad. She thought her and Theo were in love. But she was blind. She wanted to be loved, but he didn’t love her. No, he decided to torture her, shape her into the person that he wanted. He got inside of her head, he broke her down over time and never let up. When he did this, he did damage that even Doctor Frank wasn’t sure would ever heal.

Lucy grew up in a middle class neighbourhood with a modest house. It wasn’t big enough for her family of 6 but they made it work. When she turned 13 she noticed that things with her parents weren’t as amazing as she thought they were and by 16 years old, Robert left and the family broke up.

She always wanted to find love that could overcome everything, not like her mom and dad. She had always vowed to make it work, no matter what happened. She didn’t want to lose her love because she wasn’t good enough, so she had to change to become good enough. She wanted an everlasting love, but she had found it in the wrong place.

A few days after Lucy got home from the hospital, things started going downhill. Her panic attacks came on hard and often. Her nightmares were just getting worse and she could barely ever sleep.

“Doctor Frank wants to put me on a sleeping pill. But I don’t want that dad. I’m on too many pills as it is, I’m not taking more.” Lucy stated to her dad. “I can’t keep adding on to everything I already have. I won’t do it.”

“He’s just trying to help love. We will try something else, I’d you don’t want more pills then you don’t have to add them on” he replied. “I do want you to do something though, anything. You have been staying in your bedroom all day, everyday and it isn’t healthy. Get out and do something. Maybe meet some friends or something, watching you moping around all day is killing me.” He said flatly.

Lucy didn’t like making her sad feel down or like he isn’t helping. To be honest, Lucy doesn’t know where she would be without him. Somethings got to give.

“Okay dad. I’ll go out for a walk or something. “ she said unamused. She didn’t like going out anywhere because it makes her uneasy when she’s alone. She was never alone when her and Theo were dating and it made her think of that. She missed when she was never alone..

Her dad sensed her uneasiness and said “I have to go get my car looked at today, want to come?” He came to her rescue, as always.

“Sure, I’ll get my purse.”

At the shop she was waiting in the car until they were done. Her dad had asked her to go in to pay because he was busy talking to the person working on his car.

She walked in quietly and wanted to get it over with. She wasn’t a fan of talking to people these days but she knew she was helping her dad, so she did it anyways.

“Hey, my dad’s the one in the red car. I just want to pay for what he had done.” She said to the person at the counter. He had his back turned to her, writing something down.

“Cool, one sec.” he said nicely. He had a nice voice, Lucy noticed right away. A gentle voice. She looked at the man, couldn’t be any older then herself, even younger maybe. He was gorgeous, he stood very tall at around 5’11. He had long red hair in a bun on his head, to keep it out of his face. He was very fit and had the ass of an angel.

She didn’t want to stare so she wandered away while waiting for him to be done with what he was doing.

“Awesome okay. That’ll be 115.15.” he said as he looked up at her.

“Okay” she said as she fished our the cash her dad gave her from her purse. “Here”

“Awesome let me get you change.” he said as he walked away.

Lucy could not help herself and decided to take a quick peek at his butt again when he was walking away. He turned back around and walked back towards Lucy abruptly, catching her in the act of checking him out.

“Oh! Uhh. Sorry” she said, embarrassed.

He laughed and said “Don’t be. I’m mega flattered. You’re beautiful. So thanks for the compliment.” He winked. “I just forgot your signature.”

“Okay.” She said quietly. ‘Oh god someone shoot me now.’ she thought. She hated feeling embarrassed. She signed the paper and gave it back, without another word.

He walked away as she was mentally berating herself for what just happened. ‘God if I am ever going to get a boyfriend I need to stop embarrassing myself like this.’ But then something dawned on her. ‘Did he just call me beautiful?’ She was dreading the fact that she had to wait for her change, she was embarrassed enough. But this man actually just called her beautiful and she didn’t know how to react.

He came back a minute later and handed her change, “There you are, Lucy.” He winked “Have a great day.”

She was taken aback. She didn’t know what to say. ‘How does he know my name?’ she thought. ‘That’s weird.’ “how do you know my name?” She was curious.

“I can read hand writing.” He smiled

Lucy has a very unique signature. She was pleasantly surprised.

“Oh, okay. Cool. Well, have a good day…? What’s your name if I may?” she said coolly, trying to hide her blushing. She doesn’t talk to men often, if at all these days. They make her extremely nervous.

“My name is Jax. Pleasure to meet you, ma’am.” He held his hand to Lucy.

Lucy took it and shook it up and down, quickly letting go. She was not at the point of touching men, that’s for sure.

“You as well. I should be going, my dad’s waiting for me. Have a good day.” Lucy said quietly as she finally made her exit.

That was.. successful. She was happy, yet so embarrassed about being caught in the act. She ran out to her dad and got back into the car.

“Took you a while. Everything okay?” her dad said.

“Yeah just talking to the guy I paid.” she replied nonchalantly.

“Oh wow good for you! See? I knew getting out and about would help you! Baby steps right?” He smiled happily.

For once Lucy was happy about how things went with someone new. Everyone at the hospital were so nice but it felt like they had to be nice. Not out here, no one has to be nice to you out here. But he was.

Maybe, just maybe this is the start of something new.
