THE DEAL

Leo sat in the basement with his henchmen around him he had his hands bandaged and they were crimson with blood but not his own he looked up to the man who was hang upside down his face severely battered but he was alive ....Leo is a feared mafia king known to be ruthless he took over from his dad at the age of 16 ....rumour had it that ever since Leo saw his father get killed something changed in him he was called " EL DIABLO " meaning the devil Leo lived up to the name no mercy for whoever crossed him.

"Anton am going to ask one more time where is my money ?"Leo said to the man hanging

the man coughed as he was trying to talk

" sir I swear I have no idea where the money is griselda took the money with the kids .."

Leo laughed coldly and took his gun

" say hello to my dad in hell "he said before shooting Anton ......"Pedro clean up this mess I have other places to be " Leo said to one his henchmen before leaving the basement to his office .

Leo sat on his chair and poured himself whiskey , he sighed deeply a Job he hated but he had to because it's a necessity as a mafia boss a single act of kindness is see as weakness he couldn't afford to break .....or be weak.

a knock came on is door and Pedro came in

" sir Alex the accountant is here " Pedro said

Leo gave a slight nod..

Alex walked in slowly Leo signalled him to seat down

"do you know why I have called for you". Leo asked

Alex was silent unable to talk

" I want to be mistaken when I went over the accounts and noticed over 50,000$ is missing and the funniest part is you removed them across the accounts subtly that they wouldn't be noticed but you forget I am good with numbers ...you know I hate thieves " Leo said as he looked at Alex with a cold stare

Alex fell on his knees crying

" I had no intention to steal .....I had no choice my wife was terribly sick and my daughter I had to help her with college fees and the likes I had every intention to pay back "

Leo's ear perked up in interest. "

"did you say daughter?" he asked curiously .

Alex nodded his head .... trembling in fear

"I want to see this daughter of yours for now you will walk away with your life and then again......don't try to run I'll find you

Alex gulped in fear and ran out of his office once was he outside the mansion gates was he able to breathe he wondered what he would tell is wife his wife Margaret never knew he worked for the mafia the up front business was winery she thought he worked as the accountant not knowing he was into something deeper .

he had to call Anna his life depended on it.

Anna didn't know how long she had been running for until she got to the park that was when her feet rested and only then was she able to break down and cry...few onlookers walked past her in curiosity...

her cellphone ran it was her dad he rarely calls only if it's really important she picked up and formed a cheery voice so he wouldn't know she had been crying she didn't want him worried

" hey dad "

"sugar plum how are you? have you been eating well? sleeping well ? and studies? "

"dad everything is fine how is mum ?" she asked worriedly

"oh she is fine and recovering well from chemo ...... sugar plum the reason why I called why don't you come home we've missed you so much my darling "

Anna paused she has missed home so much the simple life the meadows, the rivers everything about home was peaceful her moms baked pieces

" dad I'll book the next train and come home tomorrow"

Alex breathed a sigh of relief

" I'll be waiting for you at the station my love "

Anna smiled she needed a break from all this ...she hanged up and looked at the setting sun she breathed in and seemed hopeful .
