ANGELA'S POV
I refused him recklessly although he is handsome alright, his wide angular jaw defining it plus his cold baritone voice. I guess he is in his early thirties.
A lot of things happened to me. I am wondering how am I going to survive like this. It’s not about the money or whatsoever. It’s about my dad and Vincent.
Lots of thoughts in my mind and I didn’t know I arrived in the bus waiting area. Minimal bus at this time. When I saw the cab coming, I had no choice but to stop it and deposit myself inside the cab.
After arriving home I instantly went to my room, dropping my tired body until I might fall asleep.
The sun rays hit my face. I forgot to turn my alarm clock on. When I check my phone that I dop on top of the bedside table. No more calls or texts from Vincent. God! I miss him a lot.
I forced my body to stand. I even forgot that today is my off. I just need to make things clearer with Vincent. I will do all my might just to take him back to me. Full of eagerness, I went to the bathroom brushing my teeth and washed my face then I went down and checked Mrs. Claudia.
“Oh dear, come on, have your breakfast.”
I don’t have a family now, except Mrs. Claudia who has been working with us for ten years now.
“Did you eat?”
She shook her head. “Your father’s second family already eats and they told me not to eat with them,” she groans.
“Don’t worry. Let’s eat together in the kitchen.”
I can now see how she smiles back at me. She is our family and she’s the only one I had after losing everything.
“Where are they by the way?”
“They all went outside. I overheard they are going shopping. You know, Ms. Amanda looks happy after hearing the last will of your father.”
I made a sad expression and kept staring at Mrs. Claudia. I do understand that she sympathizes with me.
“I am really getting upset after hearing that you will have only one-third and the rest will be given to your stepmom and her family.”
I tap her in the arm. “I’m fine with it. If that is what my father wanted then be it. Besides, I have my job. I can earn everything from my own sweat.”
“How about this home and the business your parents put? I am afraid they are going to trash me after this house will be in their whole custody.”
“Don’t worry. They will never do that. I will stop my auntie.”
She suddenly turns her front to me, “Can I ask you for a two-day vacation?”
I started to push the chair and sit. Then she put my plate, some egg omelet, and the toasted loaves of bread full of margarine that I love to eat.
“Why what happened?”
“You know my son, Christopher. He’s sick now. He’s twenty-three but he can’t afford to take care of himself. My husband is disabled and I don’t have anyone in the house.”
Of course, I will let her. Their house is just a few blocks away from the Laguna Land that my father gave it to me as an inheritance.
“Oh, please, Mrs. Claudia. Make it a week. I don’t mind.”
“How about the house?”
“I will take care of it. And I’m sure Auntie and Maricar will help me do the work.”
“That’s good to hear.” Then her lips lifted for a smile.
“You are such an angel, the warmest kind person on the earth. For sure you will be a good wife for Vincent. He will be lucky to have you.” She smiled at me sweetly.
She’s not even aware that Vincent and I had some misunderstanding. I will make sure it will be fixed and he will come back to my arms.
Mrs claudia started to pack her things I even gave her some amount of money, in case she will be needing it. Then she helps me prepare some food. I told her I’m gonna visit Vincent and surprise him with his favorite dish.
I arranged the food at the trunk and was about to go inside the car when Auntie Amanda arrived with her children, Maricar and David.
“Oh, my dear sister. Where are you going?” I’m not sure if that is Maricar’s way of greeting me. She didn’t let me answer her question when she asked again. “Can I request you to drop me at my boyfriend’s home?”
I look at her stunned and confused.
“You forgot that I have dropped off my other boyfriend and I have a new cup of tea now.”
I wanted to put my hands on each of my ears I just don’t want to hear anything from Maricar’s mouth. I wanted to pretend I didn’t know about it.
I smiled.“Sure. I will drop you. Maybe you are the same way with my boyfriend.”
She widened her eyes. “Oh. You have a new boyfriend, that fast?”
“N-No. He is still the one.” I turned my back on and walked straight to the car’s door, opened it, and deposited myself.
I even opened the door for her to sit next to me when I thought she was about to sit there but she just walked straight to the passenger’s seat on the back of where I sat.
“Thank you so much, my dear sister.”
I just buckle the seat belt then put the key in the keyhole turning on the engine.
“Where exactly are you going, Maricar?”
“At my boyfriend’s condo. You know my boyfriend is Vince.” I felt like my heart started to swell upon hearing what Maricar said.
I just fist my hand and I will not let her have my Vincent.
“Did you not hear me?”
I heard it all. I am aware that she’s mocking me right now but I am trying my best not to kick her out of my car. I am making good posture and feeling my patience.
I sit back and relax, maneuvering the car.
She didn’t talk when we were on the trip. I found her holding her bag, taking out lipstick, adding some shade on her lips then taking press powder and fixing her make-up. She didn’t even know how thick her make-up was right now. What do I care? I didn’t even wear a lot of that. I'm just wearing my usual face.
“You know, you should try to fix your face once in your lifetime and even fix how you dress.”
After what happened to us, I am trying my best to forget everything. After all, she’s my sister and I should be sweet and calm.
“My boyfriend loves simple women,” I retorted. Trying to boost some confidence for myself.
She just makes her eyebrows up. “Oh, really?” And gives me a not-so-convince look.
“Anyway. I don’t think some guy will like you how you dress. I mean, so dirty-old-granny. Wearing loose long sleeves and loose pants is just an old thing. It’s not even popular now and not on the trend either. Like eww.. for my age, I will never wear something like that,” she said in a stagey and disgusting way.
I swear to myself, Vincent will accept me whoever I am. It’s not about passion or how I look, about my appearance. It’s all about the content of the heart. I will never let my Vincent be in a woman like Maricar. I might not be that beautiful enough or good at this kind of sense-of-passion thing but I know how to care, love, and make my boyfriend accept me.
