The distant rumble of music from a famous downtown club subtly crept into the quieter private room, still filled with the glamorous atmosphere of the night. Inside, Lucas sat casually on a luxurious leather sofa, holding a nearly empty glass of whisky. Tonight, he had chosen to take a brief break from the burdens of business and family conflicts, enjoying a small moment of freedom, however fleeting.
Across from him sat a sharply dressed man with a sly smile—Adrian, Lucas's longtime friend. They had shared many nights like this, trying to escape the pressures of work and personal life. But tonight, Lucas seemed more restless than usual. The several glasses of whisky he’d already downed hadn’t eased the tension building within him.
"You look like someone who needs more than just whisky, Lucas," Adrian said with a wide grin, taking a sip of his own drink. "You've been alone for too long. Maybe it's time you had a little fun—stop taking everything so seriously."
Lucas shook his head, still staring blankly at his empty glass. "I'm fine, Adrian. I just need take a rest from all the chaos going on."
Adrian chuckled softly, unfazed by Lucas's rejection. "Take a rest, huh? You might need more than that. I know someone here—someone who can keep you company tonight. You know, just to relax, forget your problems for a while. She's beautiful, charming, and... very professional at what she does."
Lucas raised an eyebrow, looking at Adrian with a cold, slightly cynical gaze. "So, you think I need a woman’s company just because I look tired?"
Adrian shrugged nonchalantly. "I just think you need something more to take the edge off. This woman could help you forget all those little problems for a bit."
Lucas smirked faintly, scoffing at the suggestion. He felt a bit disgusted by the idea of ‘forgetting his problems’ with a woman recommended by his friend. Adrian might have meant well, but to Lucas, the idea seemed shallow. His life was full of people constantly looking for an escape from reality. But Lucas wasn’t interested. He preferred to face his problems, no matter how heavy they were.
"I don't need a woman to forget my problems, Adrian," Lucas said coldly. "Do you really think a few hours with someone who doesn't care who I am will change anything? That's not my lifestyle."
Adrian sighed, setting his glass down on the table. "You're always so serious, Lucas. Sometimes, you need to learn how to relax. I know the weight of the company and your family is pressing on you, but you can't keep living under the shadow of all that responsibility."
"I'm already relaxing," Lucas finally responded, a cold smile on his face. "In my own way."
The distant thumping of the club’s music was still faintly audible from outside the private room, but Lucas had already detached himself from all the noise. The few glasses of whisky he'd had were starting to take effect, causing his mind to drift, though it was still weighed down by the many problems he carried. Across from him, Adrian, his loyal yet often intrusive friend, grinned as he reached into his jacket pocket.
Lucas raised an eyebrow, looking at Adrian with a mix of curiosity and suspicion. "What now?"
Adrian pulled out a hotel key card and placed it on the table between them. "This," he said casually but with a serious undertone, "is access to a more effective solution than a glass of whisky. Upstairs at the hotel down the street, there's someone who can help you forget all of this, even if just for one night."
Lucas frowned, staring at the key card with a cold expression. "Are you serious? I told you, I don't need a woman to run from my problems, Adrian."
Adrian crossed his arms, as if he'd anticipated Lucas's reaction. "I know, you're always like that. But this is different. This woman is very exclusive. Not just anyone can meet her, let alone spend the night with her. She has a reputation, Lucas. Even the wealthy have to be lucky to get her attention. And it just so happens, I know someone who knows her."
Lucas shot Adrian a sharp look, clear reluctance in his eyes. "Why do you keep pushing this? I already told you—"
"I know," Adrian cut him off quickly, "but just hear me out. You need a break. This woman isn't just some cheap escape. She's known for… how she can make men forget everything for a while. You might even find she's more than just a fleeting temptation."
Lucas listened silently, his eyes still fixed on the key card with a skeptical gaze. Adrian always knew how to talk, how to stir his curiosity even if Lucas never openly showed interest.
"She wears a mask," Adrian continued, "and only accepts clients who meet her criteria. Not many can book a night with her. I wouldn’t recommend this if I wasn’t sure she’s the best."
Lucas sighed softly, leaning back into the sofa, staring blankly at Adrian before grabbing the remaining whisky in his glass and downing it. “You really know how to get into someone’s head, Adrian.”
Adrian grinned triumphantly. “Just trying to help, Lucas. You deserve a quiet night, and trust me, this won’t disappoint you.”
Lucas picked up the key card from the table, feeling it between his fingers for a moment before slipping it into his pocket. “Alright,” he muttered, barely audible. “I’ll see. But don’t think this means I agree with your way of thinking.”
Adrian laughed, taking a sip of his drink. “I don’t need you to agree, just to try.”

Not long after, Lucas stepped out of the club, his steps firm though his mind still swirled with thoughts. The hotel Adrian had mentioned wasn’t far, just a few blocks to the north. A light drizzle had begun to fall, wetting the busy city sidewalks. Within minutes, Lucas stood in front of the entrance to the luxurious hotel, feeling like he was making a decision that went against his principles, but at the same time, he was too exhausted to resist.
He entered the hotel lobby, greeted by warmth and the scent of expensive perfume that filled the air. Lucas didn’t wait long before heading toward the elevator, following the directions listed on the key card in his hand. His heart was beating faster than usual—whether from the alcohol or the strange expectations of this situation, he wasn’t entirely sure.
When the elevator arrived at the designated floor, Lucas walked down the quiet hallway. Only the sound of his footsteps echoed, and when he reached the door matching the number on the key card, he paused for a moment. His hand felt a bit stiff as he slid the card into the door’s key slot.
The door opened with a soft click. Inside the spacious, dimly lit room, only a gentle glow emanated from the lamp beside the large bed at the far end. There, a woman stood, dressed in an elegant black gown, her face mostly concealed by a black mask that revealed only her red lips.
She stood still, exuding an air of allure and mystery, without uttering a single word. Lucas closed the door behind him, trying to grasp what he was truly doing there. Yet the woman’s eyes, though partially hidden, seemed to radiate something he couldn’t ignore—something inviting, yet also filling him with hesitation.
For the first time in a long while, Lucas felt uncertain. But tonight, with all the confusion and pressure surrounding him, perhaps that uncertainty was exactly what he needed.
