The Market pt 2

"Right, so you're saying I've never heard of Untaes because I'm from a different world like what Lord Valentine was saying? And Untaes is from a different world because it's not from my world, but rather from this world which is not my world, but the world where Untaes exist?" I'm beginning to confuse myself.        "Yes lady Roselyn you are completely correct." As I looked at her I could tell she wasn't lying to me. Then again if Lord Valentine asked her to do it I'm sure she would. But just maybe that's what he meant by what I imagined was better than my current reality. Not even in my darkest dreams would I ever have imagined waking up on another planet. "…which is why you can think of this planet as a mirror of your own."     "Wait what? What mirror? I missed everything you just said. Could you start from the beginning?" Yuri sighed.     "As I was saying this world is a mirror of your own, yet without the reflection part of it, at least in most cases. There is an invisible glass that separates the two worlds. At one time travel between the two was constant and peaceful, but the peace only lasted for so long. As time went by humans and those from this world mixed and half breeds were born."        "Well what was wrong with that, we're not that much different." Somehow I feel the better question would have been aren't YOU human but then again I have enough to deal with.     "More than you might think Lady Roselyn. Long story short the decedents of the half breeds were becoming more and more violent, due to the unbalance within; they were unable to control this world's side of them. Vampires, ware wolves, and witches are some of the more powerful of the half breeds and probably better known in your world.     "For personal reasons and to ensure my own sanity I'm going to continue to believe those things are imaginary, so continue."     "Well Lady Roselyn, constant travel caused cracks in the glass, causing black holes to form between the two worlds, which threatened to swallow us all. That's why several hundred years ago King Aegeon crossed through the glass to set up a barrier on your side as well as ours, stopping all travel unless by Royal decree. By that time many of the half breeds were being persecuted by the humans; whether they were violent or not, that's why most moved to Untaes to live. Which was also found to calm there dark side and allow them more control. "     "That's a cool story and all but how does it explain how 'I' got here?"     "It's possible that one of your ancestors were originally from here, especially since you didn't die from the cross over. I'm sorry I can't tell you more, you should probably ask the Master about that, all I know is that one day he came home with you in his arms and one does not question the Master; we as servants simply trust his judgment and follow his commands."Her face softened as she turned toward the mansion up on the hill. "It's the least we could do, he's done so much for the people in his care, even this village and the surrounding land is under his gentle watch. He has so much and doesn't hesitate to share with whoever may need it, he is truly a great Master, and we are lucky to have him." I actually started feeling sort of bad about the things I said about him. When we dismounted from the carriage Yuri guided the way through the market.     "So Yuri what are we getting first, do you have a list or something?" Looking at me she smiled     "This trip was for you Lady Roselyn, you may buy whatever you like, that was the instructions handed down by Lord Valentine." I just can't seem to understand this Valentine guy, what's his game? As we walked around I was starting to think I was in another time period, not just another world. It was like walking through a history book of old Europe. Passing by a*****e, something caught my eye through the glass; it looked like some sort of music box stopping to stare at it I felt like I was under some sort of trance. "Would you like to go in and take a better look Lady Roselyn?" the music box seemed to call to me.     "Well just for a second." As we walked into the store a bell rung and a plump little old lady came out of the back and greeted us.     "Hello and how may I help you today?" Her hair was as white as snow and she seemed so fragile, but still her voice was strong and her eyes alert. "Why if it isn't the sleeping beauty from the park, I'm sure the masters taking good care of you. Nearly broke every heart in the village carrying you away he did." What she said made me remember when I first woke up and what he tried to do then, If he's THAT bold when I'm awake, I'm afraid to think what he may be like when I'm asleep. "Now wasn't that a sight to see, the young master carrying you all gentle like, could even make an old woman like myself jealous." As she talked I started to remember something but as quickly as it came it disappeared again. "Oh! The way he looked at you was different than I had ever seen him look at any women, and I've known him since he was a boy. Up in that big house all by his self, everyday he would come down to the village and visit that park, said he was keeping a promise or something like that. Lord Valentine may play off of his name well, but he's still a sweet boy, don't let his gentleman ways fool you, there's a lot more to him than first meets the eye." This lady seemed really nice but man could she talk.     "So are you saying he found me in the park, not kidnap, but found?"     "Good heavens child no, the young master may be a bit much at times but he means well. His life has been a lonely one; maybe with you here he won't be so lonely anymore. I hope you continue to stay by his side." Holding my hands I couldn't get away from her pleading eyes, and plus she had one strong grip for an old lady. Not to mention Yuri looked a bit off too, "Well enough of this old lady's talk what can I help you two with?"     "Oh I almost forgot, I saw a music box in the window and wanted to have a closer look." Releasing my hands she swept across the wooden floor over to the window to retrieve the music box. It was hanging from a swing like pedestal that hung from the ceiling and I thought it too high for such a small lady to reach but surprisingly she had no trouble in getting it down, it was hard to tell whether or not she jumped or flew up to get it, either way though she was no ordinary old women.     "You have a fine eye young lady, this music box is called 'Nedra fo Esimor'."As she placed it in my hands I brushed my fingers across the porcelain surface marveling at the craftsmanship and artistry, my mother had loved music boxes. I don't know much about such things but one thing I did know was that it was the most beautiful music box I had ever seen. The golden lining and purple gems seemed to glow when the sun touched their intricate surfaces. On the front was a picture of stairs going up to a gate of a garden, through which a dense fog could be seen. Flowered trees covered the rest of the sphere like box; purples and reds, whites and blues mingled across the surface like a dance. As I opened the lid a soft melody filled the room and filled me with an emotion that I had no words to describe, on the bottom of the lid were inscribed the words.      "Vis vis secor ekil notome."    "The secret is hidden within". The old lady said "It is the Ancient Night Elves language."      "It's beautiful."My eyes brimmed with tears, the melody was the same as the one my mother used to hum. Turning to the shop owner Yuri asked.     "How much is the music box?" From the looks of it I knew it was expensive and started to stop Yuri, but the woman cut me off.     "I'm sorry, but this particular piece is not for sale, I probably should have explained that earlier. It's a very special music box, given to me by a very special friend. I'm not even sure as to how it got out to be displayed; my granddaughter probably put it out by accident. I had brought it down not too long ago and she must have grabbed it by mistake." The shop owner seemed to feel bad and tried to show me other music boxes, but none could compare to the 'Nedra fo Esimor'. As we walked around people were more than accommodating once they recognized me as the woman Lord Valentine had carried from the park, though that didn't help much when trying to buy the music box. But it did make me rethink how I saw him; maybe, he wasn't that bad after all. As Yuri and I walked through the market and later around the village, I still couldn't shake the feeling that I had gone back through time; from peoples dress to how they talked, it was like walking through a Renaissance festival. After picking up some pastries from the bakery me and Yuri looked for a place to enjoy them.     "Isn't there a park over there somewhere?"     "Yes, yes there is, I thought this was your first time here... awoke." As Yuri started walking off towards the way I pointed, I realized something myself.     "This IS the first time, isn't it?" As I hurried to catch up with Yuri I felt a sort of deja vu as we walked down the path to the park. The smell of cherry blossoms was heavy in the air and the warm breeze that gently carried the petals seemed to bid us to follow. The river that flowed next to the path shined as bright as the sun as if when touched something magical would happen. Spotting a bench Yuri decided it would be a good place to sit and rest before heading back. But the nostalgic feeling only got stronger until I could even hear the faint sound of a child crying.     "Yuri did you hear that?"     "Here what Lady Roselyn?" Then I heard it again.     "That! Did you hear that! Its sounds like a child crying." Yuri paused for a second straining to try and hear what I was hearing.     "I'm sorry Lady Roselyn I don't hear anything. Maybe this was too much for your first time out, we should start heading back now." That's when I saw him; it was a small boy sitting under the tree crying. And then he disappeared, running to see where he had gone, I completely ignored the glowing of my pendant.     "Lady Roselyn! Lady Roselyn we should be heading back now, it's getting late, and it's not safe after sunset." One of the stars in the pendant started glowing red.     "Yuri what does this mean, it's not bad right?" Grabbing my hand Yuri rushed back towards the market. "There were so many people what happened to everyone?" The market was empty     "Lady Roselyn we cannot wait for the carriage here, we will start towards the mansion now and hopefully meet it on the road." I could hear the worry in her voice. Glowing red pendant, what a cliche opening to a bad event.
