Chapter 2
The next day, the only thing I could think about was getting out of there as soon as possible. After careful consideration I concluded that this Lord Valentine guy was the sexiest man I had ever met but completely insane. So, cautiously I peeked out the door and since it looked clear I started to make my escape. I remembered the way to the front door due to learning from my failed attempt last night, I may have taken a detour or two but eventually I made it to my destination. Creeping across the marbled room floor I managed to reach the mahogany giant. Then out of nowhere Lord Valentine’s voice rang down from the balcony.
"It seems my gentle warnings were not enough to curve your earlier thoughts of escape." With inhuman speed he flashed from the balcony to directly in front of me. Pulling me into his broad muscular chest he tilted my head up to look into his magical silver eyes. I found myself feeling grateful towards my great Grandmother for passing down her deep umber colored complexion. With the amount of blood that just rushed to my face from his antics I was sure to be a blushing fool. Placing my hand on his firm chest I tried to release myself as I laughed off an excuse.
"That's not it at all; it was getting a little stuffy inside, so I decided to go for a walk." As his eyes bore into mine it seemed as if he were searching for something, yearning for it. The silence that hung in the air between us weighed heavily on my nerves. Is he going to say something or what? Why does he look so sad as if he's lost something? Why does his sadness make ME sad? With so many questions running through my head his velvety voice broke the silence.
"Well then I'm sure you won't mind me coming along, now would you?"
"Psh...No, you don't have to follow me around I'm sure a Lord person like you has plenty of things on his plate to do. I'd feel horrible if I was to keep you from it. No, no you go right on ahead, I promise I won't go far." He looked me over once more before placing a light peck on my lips.
"Very well but remember not a minute late. Also, the entrance to the garden is right down that hallway." After a gripping my waist firmly, he gave a final warning stare, before walking off in the opposite direction.
Is it just me or have I unknowingly started a highly intimate relationship with a rich, sexy, Lord? Seriously what is wrong with me? Whenever he touches me are our eyes lock, I just felt like putty and become as tame as a kitten in his arms.
"And that's just not me!" Walking down the hallway I could smell the flowers before reaching the balcony that led down into the most magical place I had ever seen. Luscious flowers cascaded down the side of the mansion while a noble statue of beast like creature stood in the center of the garden. The path was well maintained, and the fountains shined like gold. I wandered around the garden for ages with my head still in a fog. As I walked, I found my surroundings becoming less and less kept up, possibly a forgotten part of the garden area. Stumbling down the new path I came across a tree in the center of the hedged area. "What is this place?" As I neared the tree, I could see the pink budded flowers that riddled every branch. "Beautiful". Reaching towards the flower I heard a rustling of leaves. A sudden prick was felt on my neck before. “Ow! Something bit me.” My eyes began to blur as my legs felt like led weights bringing me down. Falling to the ground I felt as if I were in a daze as shadows of a young boy and girl played across blackening vision until I hit the ground, and everything went black.
***LATER***
Rolling on to my back I moaned as the fog in my mind began to clear.
"What happened? I better be turning into Spader Women after this." Massaging my sore neck, I scanned my surroundings “Yep still in wierdo’s land”. I sighed in defeat as I gazed into the darkening sky that had not one but two moons in full view. "You have got to be kidding me!" Rising I started retracing my steps finding my way back to the mansion. As I walked reality was kicking in. “This is not a simple kidnapping its more like an alien abduction.” I tried to think about how exactly I had gotten here; but the harder I tried to think, the more I realized I couldn't remember anything. “How exactly did I get here? I remember blowing up at work and getting fired. I remember walking to the park after talking on the phone.” But then what happened everything after that is just blank. My oldest memory was of me waking up in a bed, wondering where in the world I was. I vaguely remember seeing Lord Valentine before that, but it was all so fuzzy. As the shadows around me disappeared and I was engulfed by darkness I knew it was way passed sunset. I quickened my pace as Lord Valentines warnings of punishment rang through my head. Walking into the mansion through the side door, I instantly knew that something was wrong. The place was a mess every picture and chair were thrown to floor as if a tornado had come through, a tornado I was sure was called Lord Valentine. I could hear him as I neared the foyer area, Lord Valentine was ripping the little enchanting maid from last night a new one. I wonder what's got his panties in a bunch. In that moment my body froze, as a shiver ran down my spine when his silver eyes locked onto mine freezing me in place. Gone were the golden flecks that made him look almost angelic. In their place were shining fiery red daggers of fury and both were locked on me like a missile on target. A girl nearby spotted me and began to scream.
"I found her! she's here!" Well thank you captain obvious, with long strong strides Lord Valentine made his way towards me. I started to run when his icy voice bellowed across the remaining distance between us.
"Don't even think about running Rose!" As he drew closer, I cowered in fear of his anger. "Are you hurt?" Flinching from his touch for a split second I almost thought I saw hurt in his eyes before he masked his expression once again under his Lordly face. Reaching for me again but slower, this time I simply closed my eyes unsure of what to expect. I could feel as his hand glided across my check softly as if I would break. Peeking through my shut eyes my heart clenched at the look he was giving me. I became undone by the amount of worry and care he was showing me. Looking me over one last time as if to make sure I was truly OK, he pulled me into his arms as he let out a sigh of relief.
"I'm sorry." I don't know why but that was all that came to my mind to say. It had been a long time since someone worried about me like this. I was unprepared for such a situation.
“My lady I’m so happy you have returned safely; Master was so worried about you. There’s no telling what could have happened.” Gripping my arms, he seemed to snap from worry to anger.
"DO YOU NOT KNOW THE TIME? It's passed sunset I specifically told you 1 hour BEFORE not AFTER! Are you a child or a fool? Do I need to chain you to myself for you to listen?" I get that it was partially my fault, but he was going way too far. His bipolar actions were beyond crazy.
"Who the h*** do you think you are telling me what I can and cannot do? Also, how in the world was I supposed to tell when there's only an hour before sunset? Are you insane? You know what, don't answer that, I'm the crazy one for thinking even for a second that you were anything but a raving bipolar lunatic!" My chest rose and fell with heavy breaths as I struggled to calm down from my anger. Why did she have to bring that up at that very moment? Throughout my entire tirade not once did he release me from his embrace, no matter how much I struggled. Why is he so strong? Long and hard he stared at me until finally he took a deep breath as if coming to decision, I was sure I wasn't going to like.
"Since you can't seem to understand what you've done wrong then there's nothing left for me to say. Yurieta take her back to her room, where she will stay until I say otherwise. Also, she will not be accompanying me tonight for the party."
“Master tonight was supposed to be…” raising his hand he stopped the young maids’ words.
“Enough! There is no meaning if she doesn’t want it herself.” As he walked away, despite knowing the contrary, I felt as if I had done something wrong. It was like a fog had descended on the mansion and I was the cause. As I followed Yurieta back to my room I overheard some of the maids discussing.
"The master waited for the young lady for over 2 hours. Did you see the dress he prepared for her it was more extravagant than most royal dresses."
"Yeah I heard he over saw the dinner for tonight and picked out her dress himself. Even though He's so busy with his other duties."
"Poor Master did all that for a simple human and she didn't even appreciate it." The three little maids gave me the evil eye before Yurieta scolded them and sent them on their way.
"Don't worry too much about them My Lady, they're just very fond of the Master." This isn't fair, I'm not at fault so why do I feel so horrible?
"What dinner party and what dress are they talking about?"
"It's nothing you have to worry about, I believe the Master planned on officially introducing you tonight at the party." Officially introducing me, as what? "But I believe he'll be putting it off for some time now." Turning her face, I thought I saw her smirk but quickly dismissed it considering how much she’s helped me since coming here. Despite her trying to make me feel better I couldn't shake the feeling that she was pleased with the fact that Lord Valentine wasn't going to be introducing me tonight. And why do I even care?
***Later***
As the night went on, I could smell the food wading up the stairs, it seemed he really was hosting a party tonight, I guess that part was true. Despite that all I knew was that I was starving, that evil bastard really wasn't feeding me. The guilt I had felt earlier was quickly dissipating, every time my stomach growled my anger rose. But when I remembered how worried he had looked I started thinking maybe I was wrong, he really did seem upset, *Stomach growled*
"You stupid jerk; I hope you can hear me you low down dirty…" I began to hear a knock on the door and then I heard a soft voice
"Miss? Miss?" I looked up to see the servant girl from earlier; who got yelled at, she came in and quickly closed the door behind her with what could only be a tray of food due to the heavenly smell that was rising from it. Whispering I told her she could get in trouble for this, restating his exact words,
"Anyone who feeds her will be locked in the dungeon and starved to death in her place! Muwhahaha" adding on the evil laugh for affect. What a jerk! Who threatens to put people in dungeons anyways? What are we in the 1600’s.”? She quickly came to his defense.
"No, he's not, it really was my fault, I was put in charge of your care, he only reacted that way because he cherishes you so much.” I couldn’t help but laugh.
“He… cherishes me… more like he just wants me to submit to him, like some weak slave girl.” Sighing she brought me over to sit on the couch that was situated in the corner of my apartment size room.
“My Lady, it really isn't safe for you during night hours to be out alone. I was supposed to give you the pendant my master had prepared for you; if I had done what I was supposed to do, none of this would have ever happened. Besides being put into the dungeon as punishment would be a small price to pay if anything happened to you." Her voice cracked as her eyes began to water with unshed tears.
"Don't cry, I didn't mean it, I mean I barely know the guy. Of course you should be put into a dungeon when you do something wrong." I really hope dungeon is code for something.
"I was so caught up with the preparations for tonight's ball I completely forgot to keep an eye on you like I was supposed to. You could have gone missing and never found again, even dragged into the forest and ripped apart."
"Wait! What?" that doesn't sound good at all why ripped apart? Ripped apart by what?
"The Master being so kind, he would have been devastated over it too, especially since you’re his chosen." Chosen what? "But him also being so strong I'm sure he would have eventually gotten over you." Well that’s kind of harsh.
"OK, I get it. Lord Valentine is the greatest I’m a horrible person for misunderstanding him, if I wear the pendent would you please stop crying. I’m sure there’s some sort of divine punishment for making a beautiful girl cry." As we sat there staring at one another the entire scene just seemed so comical that we both began to laugh. She also said that her Master was only like that because he was worried about me, but I don't understand why it's not like we've met before. After I finished eating, and a thorough history of the almighty Lord Valentine. She cleaned everything and started to leave, stopping her I asked.
"I'm sorry I’ve talked to you on several occasions now and I still don't remember your name."
"My Lady, I am honored that you would even ask, my name is Yurieta."
"Would it be OK if I called you Yuri, I think I’d have an easier time remembering that. I horrible at remembering names." Smiling at me she bowed.
"It would be my honor, My Lady." As I went to sleep that night, I felt I had just made a good friend or love rival depending on how all this would go.
***DAYON POV***
As Yuri walked out of Roselyn's room she jumped when she saw me. She started to apologize but raising my hand to stop her I asked about Roselyn.
"Did she eat?"
"Yes Master."
“You never mentioned it was from me, right?”
“Of course not Master though I don’t understand why you would want to hide this from her, she is your chosen.” Looking up at me, she seemed to be wondering about many things regarding Rose. I could tell she was thinking about why I acted the way I did in respect to my lovely flower, my chosen but now was not the time to explain. Even though I had planned to bring her to this side of the veil eventually I never meant for her to be here this soon. Someone summoned her here and whoever it was did not do so with good intentions. Eyeing Yuri I wondered how Rose was taking her punishment.
"Is she very upset with me?"
"She only misunderstands your worry Master.”
"And my heart it seems."
“If you would but show her half the care you have exhibited in front of the rest of us, I’m sure she would come around." A sort of lonely sadness flickered across his face but disappeared like a setting sun behind his gentlemanly smile.
“I’m afraid I would only scare her away.” Dismissing her, I walked away, back towards the party. “Vark!” from thin air a man appeared at Lord Valentines side.
“Yes, Master.”
“Find out who tried to harm Rose in the garden and when you do, don’t kill them. I’ll do so myself, only then will my inner beast rest.”
“Yes, Master.” As quickly as he had appeared Vark disappeared into the darkness once again.
