Juliette Carter, the artist you’re planning to woo, is in my sights. I will do whatever it takes to take your empire from you. Beware, the game is afoot.-- Damian Blackwood Fury surged within him. Damian, his brother, had always been a shadow in his life, embodying resentment and rivalry. “Lucas!” Xander barked, rising from his chair, frustration bubbling up. “We need to act fast. I can’t let him gain the upper hand.” Thoughts? Lucas asked, leaning against the doorframe, arms crossed. Xander’s mind raced. The idea of a contract marriage flitted through his thoughts like a flowing current. What if he could counter this looming threat? Marrying Juliette would not only solve his impending personal crisis but potentially become a strategic move against Damian. “Get Juliette Carter here,” he commanded, certainty resounding in his voice. “Yes, sir,” Lucas replied, bemusement evident. ___ Juliette sat frozen in Xander's opulent study, the weight of her decision suffocating her. The freshly signed contract lay before her, its ink still wet. Despite her composed facade, doubts ravaged her inner world. Driven by fear for her sister's health and a desperate need for security, she had bound herself to a stranger. Congratulations, Juliette, Xander said, leaning back with a self-satisfied grin. You won’t regret this. “Right,” she replied, her skepticism evident. “Just remember, this is a business arrangement. No feelings.” “Of course,” he responded smoothly Given their public nature, it was necessary to maintain the image they wanted.Juliette felt a familiar itch of rebellion, but the looming reality of her sister’s medical costs silenced her protests. “As long as it doesn’t interfere with my art,” she negotiated, her tone firm. “Agreed. Your work is yours,” he replied warmly, his sincerity cutting through her reservations. “This is simply a strategic partnership.”She nodded slowly, the weight of sharing a life with Xander heavy on her shoulders. The glittering city beyond the windows promised opportunity, yet she battled uncertainty about this new life she had chosen. “Let’s start fresh,” Xander suggested, interrupting her thoughts. How about an introduction at one of my corporate events? It’ll showcase our unity to the public.“A publicity stunt,” she countered, though curiosity ignited within her. She had always seen gala events as magical but now felt like a pawn in a game where the rules were hidden. “Exactly,” he said with confidence.I’ll introduce you as my beautiful wife.“What if someone asks about my art?” she asked, concerns creeping into her voice. Then I’ll say it’s thriving,he replied smoothly, his charm disarming her fears momentarily. We’ll navigate this together. Mutual respect is foundational. As their eyes locked, she glimpsed the complex man behind the billionaire mask. An electric tension hung between them, both thrilling and intimidating.Just then, a knock broke the moment; Lucas entered with a serious expression. “Xander, we need to discuss the impending board meeting. They’ve caught wind of rumors.”Thank you, Lucas. “I’ll be there shortly,” Xander said, waving him off. I'll send other necessary information across to you, Lucas will take you home Juliette, Xander said, Xander mused over the implications of marrying Juliette, his thoughts tangled between strategy and something far more dangerous desire. She wasn’t just a pretty face in a room full of forgettable women. Juliette Carter was different. Smart, stubborn, with a fire in her eyes that both challenged and intrigued him. Images of her flooded his mind paint-smeared hands moving with purpose, those sharp comebacks that caught him off guard, the vulnerability she tried so hard to mask. She was beautiful, yes, but more than that… she had depth. Marrying her could serve his agenda, polish his public image, secure his position. Sipping his whiskey, a slow smile crept across his lips as he envisioned her at upcoming events charming everyone around them. Her presence could distract from the brewing tensions with the board and Damian.“This is going to be one hell of a partnership,” he mused, amusement bubbling beneath his determination. As night descended, he craved celebration. The tension of the day faded as he walked into one of the high-society nightclubs. The pulsating music enveloped him, beckoning him deeper into the chaos. He surveyed the vibrant scene, finally setting his sights on a sultry redhead, dancing with abandon. Sensing an undeniable chemistry, he approached her. “Care to dance?” “Only if you can keep up,” she teased, pulling him closer. They swayed together, the music wrapping around them until Xander leaned in to whisper, “Let’s take this somewhere more private okay...” Once inside a luxurious hotel suite, he pressed her against the door, devouring her lips. Their connection ignited a fire within him, and he lost himself in desire, forgetting everything else. But amidst the whirl of lust, glimpses of Juliette crept into his mind, her laughter, the brilliance in her eyes conflicting his pleasure. “Jules…” he gasped, the name slipping out before he could restrain himself. “Who’s Jules?” the redhead teased, her voice laced with mischief. “Just focus on this,” he urged, but his mind kept drifting. Each thrust was a battle against the tangled mess of emotions that refused to be silenced. He moved with precision, like a man trying to outrun his own mind, but Juliette’s name clung to the edges of his thoughts like a curse. Despite his restraint, her image pierced through the haze of lust, her voice echoing in the recesses of his memory. The woman beneath him arched, chasing release, but he felt detached like his body was present, but his soul was elsewhere. As he reached the peak of his release, the truth slipped from his lips in a single, involuntary breath—raw, unfiltered, and undeniably real. “Juliette…” Her name fell like a confession, hanging heavy in the air, impossible to take back, impossible to ignore.
