Healing meant freedom and as I healed, I regained those basic abilities that I had taken for granted. Three weeks after the shooting, I was able to move around on my own without Jonah hovering. I loved the man beyond all reason, but it was starting to be too much having him right there all the time.
My stitches had been removed, so I no longer required a bandage. I still couldn’t raise my right arm very high, but it was enough that I was finally able to shower on my own. An improvement that had me wiggling my naked ass in celebration under the spray and lingering much longer than necessary.
The pain, while still present, was mild enough that it no longer drained all my energy, and I could rely primarily on over-the-counter pain relievers to take the edge off when need
