“Are you dead?” I sat up quickly, gasping for air. “Jesus Christ, that was dramatic.”
I glared up at where Calix was standing above me, his blue eyes startled and slightly offended looking. I slept all night next to my mom, I guess. I look over, feeling deflated when I see she’s still asleep. “Come on, it’s time to get out of bed.” I groan in protest as Calix grabs me by the elbow, dragging me out of the bed. “You are ridiculous.” He grumbles as I fall onto the floor in a pile of goo. “Why are you always doing this?” He bends down, and scoops me up and throws me over his shoulder.
“What are you forcing me to do today? Can’t I just enjoy a little time with my mom?” I complain, letting my limbs hang loosely off of him.
