Chapter One

1290 Words
Present I woke up in pure agony as hellacious pain ran through my body leaving my bones muddled in its wake. I blinked my eyes against the lightening burning my eyes, it took some minutes for me to focus and then a white room came into my view with people in white coats walking all over. A man in a white lab coat walked up to me and smiled, “Looks like you're finally awake, I was starting to worry that your body is weak.” He had short white hair with a white moustache and beard, four-inch-thick glasses sat on his nose covering his wrinkled face, two black beady eyes staring back at me. I tried to move my arms but I couldn't, then I realized I was placed in a standing position and tied to some kind of board. My body was far too weak to move. My head throbbed, and I couldn’t even feel my legs. “Who the hell are you?” My voice sounded too weak and small for my liking, what did they do to me? He smiled again, a smile that gave me the creeps, and answered me “Oh you shouldn't be bothered about that right now, we have a lot of time to get acquainted together.” What the hell was this bastard saying? I tried to growl, but I didn’t have the strength. Whatever I was injected with is really doing its job. “How did I get here?” My mind is in disarray and I can't remember a thing. “We simply took you that's all” he replied as he collected a tray filled with needles from another man in a coat who walked up to him. “Took me? What the he—” the memories came flooding. I was at the park with my daughter having fun and eating ice cream when we were suddenly surrounded, before I could do a thing I blacked out. My daughter??? I was with her when we were attacked, and a feeling of pure dread washed over me. No…no way, she has to be fine, she has to. “Where is my daughter?” I growled trying to move my body but still unable to do so, my wolf feels weak too, what was I injected with…wolfsbane? No way, I have an insane resistance to it! “If I were you, I would save my strength” He chuckled taking delight in my frustration. “You don’t get to advise me, son of a b***h! Now, where’s my daughter?” My voice grew stronger with each word. I was regaining strength, bit by bit though the feeling of dread didn't stop, where in the world could my daughter be? I need to calm down, I need to be rational, losing my cool won't help me here. I should take his advice and get enough strength to break out of this and snap his neck. “The Vaelor clan has taken their property and she would be with them, at least until she has shown to be quite useful.” My vision flashed red for a second before I forced myself to calm down—stay calm, Lyra. Breathe. She’s fine; they wouldn’t dare harm her. I need to calm down and assess the situation. Hold on…did he just call my daughter property? My vision went red for the second time again the rage in me blinding. Calm down Lyra, if you make a move now he will realize you are regaining your strength. “Useful? What do you mean by that?” I need to stall him as much as I can till I can break out of the straps used to tie me to the board. “Well if she proves to be as useful as you are then she has a chance in the pack but if she doesn't become like you by the time she shifts, she will be gotten rid of immediately, the Watkins clan doesn't need a bastard in the clan especially one who is a weak link.” Calm down. Calm down. Calm down. My left eye twitched as irritation clawed up my throat. I held back the urge to swear at him in every language I knew and forced myself to focus on the situation at hand. I needed to get out of here. I needed to save my daughter immediately. How had the clan found our location…? That's a mystery I am prepared to solve later. “What are you going to do to me?” My strength was returning to me but I still need time. I scanned the number of people in the room with my eyes briefly, there are 4 more others in the room aside from this bastard, one thing is for sure there's heavy security outside. Escaping here is not going to be an easy task but it is a risk I am prepared to take. I need to find my daughter. He brought a needle closer to me and smiled again, his smile really makes his face so punchable. “We are simply going to mold you into something useful for the clan, Lyra. Who knew a weak, useless Omega like you could ever be blessed with the gifts of the moon goddess? The gifts exclusive to the Lycans to be precise.” “Not to mention you were even blessed with more than one. How unbelievable, I didn't believe my eyes at first but it turned out to be true.” He pushed his glasses back to sit on his face properly. “ You my dear Lyra, you are going to be this Clan's most powerful weapon, but for now you are tainted, and so I am simply going to mold you into perfection, into what we need.” “In short, you are trying to brainwash me” I responded dryly, what's with all this mad scientist bullshit. “Affirmative” he nodded looking really proud of himself. “Then what's with the bloody jumble of words? You could have saved us both the pain of listening to your voice and gotten straight to the point you idiot.“ A little more time and I would be able to pull out my claws to cut these straps. “Now, let's begin shall we” he moved closer to me ready to insert the syringe into my arm. “No, we shall not, you asshole! I do not consent to this—” The door fell open with a large bang as several people in all black, their faces covered in helmets trooped into the room with guns in their hands. In the blink of an eye, they shot the four other occupants in the room leaving the jerk in front of me. One of the people in helmets moved closer to us and removed his helmet, the moment the helmet was taken off, I recognized him as one of Melissa's men. “Hello Lyra” he said with a curt nod “Melissa would be glad to find you still alive.” The mad scientist moved backwards, unfortunately for him, his back was turned to me giving me an opportunity for me to grab him “If you think you can get away with this you are in for a surprise, you have no idea who you are dealing with, the Vaelor Clan will destroy you all—” In the blink of an eye, I pulled my claws out and slashed through the straps and placed my claws around his neck. “You talk too much” Those were the last words he heard before I ripped his head off his neck.
