Chapter Two

2010-New York City

Ella stepped into the shower ,her mind was else where. She softly laughed as she remembered what the young man had said to her earlier in the restaurant.She was indeed flattered by his words ,that a young man like him could find a woman like her ,who is much older than him, attractive.But ,she surely was not into boys ,if only she could meet a man like the one she would often dream about. A shiver ran down her spine when she remembered the steamy dream she had a few days ago with this man who would often, out of nowhere would come  walking into  her dreams,teasing her with his caresses ,if only he could walk out of those dreams and into her life for real! With that thought she turned on the shower faucet and  as the  lukewarm water droplets falls on her skin,she closed her eyes trying to think of anything else but that dream,but now that she had brought him up she couldn't get rid of those piercing chestnut brown eyes from her mind.It felt like he was actually watching her and she quickly opened her eyes as her heart pounded in her chest.

Why does it feel so real whenever I think of  him!,  Ella said to herself as she quickly grabbed a towel and wrapped it around herself.

She walked over to the mirror ,using the palm of her hand she wiped the mist off  it and she saw him standing behind her ,staring at her and she squealed. Ella shut her eyes tightly and opened them again and he was no longer there.

'I'm definitely going crazy!',Ella said looking at the goosebumps on her arms as suddenly the room felt cold.

She turned around and looked around the bathroom, hoping not to get anymore surprises.Noticing she had left a small window open,she quickly closed it and hurried to get out of the shower.

' Enough excitement for a day.Now get ready for work',Ella softly said as she dropped her towel on the floor ,but little did she know the pair of chestnut brown eyes were still watching her every move.

Walking in the hospital ,Ella smiled brightly and waved at the receptionists. She quickly made her way to the nurse's station to get change , grab a cup of coffee before she head to the office of the Doctor whom she was assigned to. She walked inside the cafeteria and like usual ,she cheerfully bid everyone a good evening before ordering her usual double mocha. As soon as the paper cup touched her lips a voice came over the P A system asking the nurses who are assigned to  Dr.Michael  to report to the emergency room right away.She quickly hurried out of the cafeteria leaving her untouched coffee on the table. She entered the emergency room and grabbed her blue scrubs and put them on .As she washed her hands by the sink the Doctor filled them in with the information about the patient waiting inside the operating room. A hit and run case , the victim had been left with serious injuries and needed an emergency operation to stop internal bleeding. Ella silently prayed that the young man could be saved and she wondered how someone could be so cruel to hit the young man and leave him there bleeding to death.She shook her head in disbelief as she hurried inside the operating room.

Almost two hours later ,Ella walked out of the operating room followed by the Doctor and other nurses. They would now have to wait until morning to say that the operation was a complete success, they were able to stabilize his condition but now its the waiting. Ella removed her gloves ,mask and blue gown and put it in the waste bin. As she turned to wash her hands Dr.Michael was standing behind her ,his forehead lightly beaded with sweat. 

'Heard you are going on leave tomorrow', he said and Ella nodded yes.

' Two months in L.A. Spending some time with my parents', she said.

' The whole hospital will miss you. I know some patients who would complain about your absence', DR.Michael said with a smile.

'Old Mr.Peterson', they both said together and then laughed.

'Anyways Miss,Russels enjoy your holidays. We meet in thirty minutes for the rounds', the Doctor said as he walked away.

Ella smiled she would surely miss working at the hospital ,but she needed a good break,from the routine,and the demands of life in order for her to stay sane.She definitely needed a change of scenery and to take care of herself for a change.

As soon as she put her head down on her pillow her phone rang,,it was past eight in the morning and she had just reached home . She checked the caller ID and she noticed it was Helena calling and she rolled her eyes. She opened her bedside table drawer and put the phone in there and closed it. She surely was not in the mood to chat now as her whole body ached with extreme fatigue.She closed her eyes and drifted away in a deep sleep.

' Ella wake up', she heard someone from a distant calling her name ,she opened her eyes and everything seemed blurry. There were so many people in her bedroom .People she had never met in her life, one particular person who caught her eyes was the man standing in the far corner of her bedroom. His eyes resembled rings of fire ,but  his stare was a cold one. As if he was staring at her with hatred.

' Its you ...',she tried to say but her throat was dry she could barely speak nor move.It was then that she glanced at her hands they were tied to the bed with a rope ,she blinked her eyes and looked at the ropes again, they actually looked like they were alive as they moved like tree roots tightening her hands and she winced in pain.

'Whats going on here?',she shouted and turned her gaze towards the man who was now walking in her direction.

Everyone else moved out of his way and bowed as he walked past them. Ella winced again as the rope tightened around her hands.

This is a dream .I need to wake up ..I need to wake up, she kept saying to herself as the man approached the bed.

Ella sat up in bed ,sweating as her heart pounded furiously. She looked around the room and quickly looked at her hands.

'It was just a dream! But that man...His eyes..he was staring at me with hatred. Even in my dream they hate me', Ella said as she turned to check the time. She could not believe that she had slept for only half an hour and having nightmares in the day time. She opened her drawer and checked her phone. There were several missed calls from Helena and also a text from her.

'Call me ASAP.You will not believe this ,no you will be blown away!'.

She read the message from her best friend and wondered what she was going to tell her that will blow her away.Ella noticed another message and she opened it . She  rolled her eyes when she noticed it was a daily Horoscope  message and wondered who signed her up to get her daily horoscope readings. She was about to delete it ,but the first line made her stop.

'Your owner seems a little agitated and you have only one choice ,not to upset him. Love has no place in his heart,  but obedience and respect you must give. You will finally meet your faith today and thousands of questions would torment you but remaining quiet will keep you alive'.

Ella read the reading again and then laughed .

' I better call Helena and find out what she has to tell me', she said as she deleted the Horoscope reading.
