Maya – POV
I stared at Victoria’s text, my thumb hovering over the screen.
Meet me. Alone. I’ll tell you everything about your father.
Every instinct screamed trap.
“Maya.” Rebecca’s voice cut through my thoughts. “Whatever you’re considering, don’t.”
“She says she knows who killed my father.”
“She’s lying. It’s what predators do,they find your wound and press on it.” Rebecca stepped closer, her tone urgent. “You walk into that meeting, you might not walk out.”
Before I could reply, my phone buzzed again. Not Victoria this time,Hartford General.
Miss Collins, your mother is asking for you. She seems agitated and keeps mentioning your father. Please come when you can.

I showed the message to Margaret Stone, who was still standing by the window. Her expression darkened.
