Evander’s POV I chose not to answer her and instead focused on tending to the cut on her face. Even with the smoke in the air, her eyes stayed locked on mine, shining brightly. “Stay still,” I whispered. I regretted not stopping her from going to the ridge at that moment. But unfortunately, I couldn't turn back time. “You are ignoring me, Evander,” she snapped. “I’m cleaning your face, Ravena. I'll answer when I'm done.” As I examined her hand and turned her palm, I noticed old calluses and thick knuckles from countless hours spent in training and swordplay. “You really shouldn’t be out on the battlefield, you know.” “I was destined to be a warrior.” “Well, you… you fought well. You were really quick and… uhm… smart.” She raised her chin boldly. “So you mean it?” “Yes, I do.”
