CHAPTER SIXTEEN Walking through the tunnel, Sarah stops to look back at how far she’s gone. Endless black in both directions. Only the small glow of the candle lets her know where she is. The sides of the tunnel are damp and cold. Tripping, she catches herself on the wall. Gaining composure, she lets her hand linger over the arrows. Something wriggles between her fingers. Half screaming, she pulls her hand back, clutching the arrows. She leans closer to the wall. Moving the candle closer, a worm makes its way through the mud. She breathes in deep, letting her heart slow down. Calm down. It’s just a worm. Silly girl. Are you really going to let that scare you? She stands straight, looking ahead and then behind her.
