CHAPTER SEVENTEEN The rays of the risen sun are blinding against the snow. They peek through the holes in the trees. The birds chirp. Limbs crack and crash to the ground. Twigs snap. Brush rustles. The horse’s hooves crunch in the snow. As of this moment, however, silence has taken over the men. Sarah tries to adjust herself in the saddle. She can’t move more than half an inch. Caleb must be sitting on her cloak. Reaching back to pull it, she hits the inside of his leg close to his groin. Caleb doesn’t move.
