CHAPTER FIVE Stepping up to it, Peter leans against the lip of the fountain. He puts his lips to the water. Taking a sip, he closes his eyes as the cool liquid passes over them. He stops, stepping back, and wipes his mouth with the sleeve of his right arm. He looks at Sarah, smirking with a hand to the water. Sarah nods, stepping up to it. Before she braces on the sapphires, a smaller inscription below the first catches her eye. “Peter, look. There’s another inscription, but I can’t make out the language.” Running her fingers over the inscription, she studies the strange symbols. Peter walks up next to it, smirking, and clears his throat. “That one says—” His voice trails off, eyes widening, and Sarah nudges him. “It says, ‘If you can read this, don’t drink the water’.” He looks up into
