CHAPTER THREE Gloria falls to her knees, crying. Sarah looks past her mother at a darkened figure. Her father stands in the distance, catching himself on the walls of the cottage. His night pants and loose tunic cling to his thinning frame as the breeze swirls around them. He coughs, holding fast to the cottage. Gloria jerks her head up at Sarah. Sarah’s gaze falls back on her mother. Tears fall from Gloria’s chin. Her mouth hangs open. Eyes stare a hole into Sarah. Just as fast as murder was scribed, forgiveness takes its place in her eyes. She stands, pulling Sarah into a death grip. Sarah’s heart sinks to the pit of her stomach. What has she done? Gloria’s eyes drop to the ground looking from side to side.
