Chapter Nine

1410 Words
As promised, Ares was there when I arrived, seating in a booth. " Okay, so what is it that you couldn't tell me in the street?" " Take a seat, you might need to." This is not a good sign... I am seated and just as I'm about to open my mouth, Ares signs me to keep quiet. " What can I bring you two love birds?" asked a middle-aged waitress, flashing a white smile our way. " Oh, we are not together." I gestured between us. " Some fries and two cokes please." Ares said unmoved by my comment and returned to his stoic figure. I waited for the waitress to leave so I won't be causing a scene in front of her. " Did you even ask me what I wanted?" " No, but I know that you like fries and you always drink coke." Well... he isn't wrong. I do like fries more than anything especially is they are crunchy and I do drink coke almost all the time. " Still, you should've asked before ordering." The waitress came with the drinks and for a few minutes an awkward silence settled between us. " So? What did you want to talk about?" " Right. The pack." Ares said fidgeting a little more before blurting it out, " You need to know why are people considering you human and me the Alpha." Now this was going to get weird really fast and probably I should be leaving. " Please don't leave me. I need you to hear this." To me, this was sounding like a bad joke. But his hazel eyes were pleading for mine to stay and hear him out. And as cruel as I can be, I'm not a puppy crusher. So I take a deep breath and imagine would could go wrong. " Fine. But you have until I finish my fries." I said taking back the seat in the booth and watching as his expression changed into a relieved one. " Okay, I'm gonna start talking, you start eating." as a response, I picked up a fry and started munching on it. " You know that every group needs a leader?" he asked me and I nodded. " And that every little group is part of a bigger group with another leader and that group is part of an even bigger one with another leader and-" " Get to the point Wilder!" " Right, right... The point is, I'm the leader of my group and you are the leader of...of... What group are you again?" " Not part of a group." I responded annoyed for assuming that I'm one of those girls that needs a group. " But you and James, I thought you were a group." " By definition, you dumbass, a group needs to be composed of a leader and at least two followers and you would know that if you've been paying attention during economy class." my patience was wearing thin. " We have economy together?" " Wilder... Why are you talking to me about politics. Are you panning on running for school president?" I was getting tired of his subject avoidings. " No, no, but in order for you to understand about where I'm going with this, you need to know how groups work." " You are not giving me the talk!" I said again getting up and grabbing my things to leave. " Eighty percent of the school is lycan. Ten percent is human. Three percent is gollum and seven percent is witch." he blurted out with his eyes closed. I was shocked. I stayed in that mid getting up posture for a good few seconds analyzing what I've just heard. Thoughts were swarming to my mind and I started tightening the grip in my right hand on the table. My left hand was holding the phone and slowly starting to get cramps from the extended position I was in. The waitress that was serving the table behind us lost balance of the tray and dropped the drinks causing me to get out of the stone state I was in and drop my phone. I ducked down to search for my phone that slipped under the couch so I had to stretch my hand for it. Glass was everywhere and the liquid was starting to get sticky. When I reached my phone, I started dragging it from under it and at the same time think about what should I say to Ares when I get up. And telling him that it was a good joke was not part of the plan. I couldn't just grab my things and leave even if my mind was telling me so. He was waiting for an answers and I'm sure as hell he won't let me get off the hook th- Aw, what the hell... Did I- did I just cut myself?! I pulled my hand out and as I expected, my wrist was now covered in a glove of blood. " You cut yourself!" Ares jumped from his seat and stated the obvious. " You don't say?!" I answered sarcastically. " We need to get you to a doctor. The wrist is no thing to play with." he said coming to my side and inspecting the wound. " You are the one talking. I did the same thing to you half an hour ago when you attacked me." " Yeah, but I'm a lycan, I heal fast." he said like it was a true thing. " Yeah right!" I said laughing and putting my hand over his that was now covering my open arm with a tissue. " Lets see how bad is it." I eased the pressure on his hand and he lifted the paper tissue, slowly wiping around the cut, " You cut yourself vertically. This is not good, we have to go." he looked concerned around the room like searching for someone. " Everything alright down there?" asked the waitress that was now wiping the floor from glass shards. " Yeah, I was just helping her find her phone. She dropped it. Sometimes she is kind of a klutz." he answered for me with a concerned laugh. " Ares? I'm not feeling very well." I decided to inform him when the room started spinning and everything doubled. The tingling feeling was back and it was pulsating through my body. But along with that, a sharp pain was followed by each electric shock and every shock was making me dizzier by the second. " Tell me what are you feeling?" " Some funny tingling feeling" I said with a small chuckle, " And pain, a lot of that along with the funny one. Why am I dizzy?" I was acting like a drunk person in public. " You are changing your emotions pretty fast. Ummm... Okay. Are you allergic to anything? Are you on some prescription medication? Pregnant?" he tried again, but every time I would nod no. " Scared of blood?" he tried again. " I'm not scared of anything!" I said trying to get up and prove my point, but fell miserably to the ground. " Okay, slow down. I'll carry you. Just... just keep on pressing over the wound. You didn't lose that much blood." " WOW! WOW! WOW!" I screamed when he lifted me up in his arms, " I can do this on my own!" I said punching his chest, but also because the fast movement made me even dizzier. " Really? By all means then." he said dropping me down to my feet and spreading an open arm. I only managed to look at him and straighten myself before falling back to the ground. " Told you." Ares said in my hair, collecting me from the ground. " Lets get you out of here." All I could do was nod and lean my head again his chest to keep it from falling, but closing my eyes was a mistake. Darkness was taking over and so were the nightmares and the painful memories: Mom leaving me and dad. My family getting into a car accident, leaving me the only survivor. The white mask continuing to hunt me down the river. My best friend from childhood getting killed again. People killing each other. Everything was looking like a Pink Floyd movie. Then a wolf form appeared in a fog state and I entered in a coma.
