Chapter Thirteen

Now, how do I explain this? And well... the whole mess.                 After the "accident" in which I told the principal and his twin that I need hospitalisation, everything went black. Again...                 " Are you clinically insane or do you just like to pretend?" was the first voice I heard, besides the monitors beeping.                 Now, usually I would laugh but this time, this one damn time, when I tried to laugh, well...I ended up groaning and couching blood.                 " Uh... now I can scratch the whole 'dark blooded' theory off my list." I said in a huskey voice, looking at the light red blood in my hand.                 " Okay, you know what?" said Ares in a disgusted voice, " I'm gonna go call the nurse and while I'm at it, maybe sign you up for the mental institute as well."                  " Bring some jell-o as well while you are at it." I screamed after him before he could be out of my sight.                    Now, think! What the hell happened? And why the hell am I not in the infermery at school?                     As it turns out, I'm stupid as f**k. Because I drove my bike basically into the school, with a bag of bones in front of me as well... everything was bound to crush and not in a nice way like crushing a f*****g party, no; like in the way where casualities happen. And well, that was us. Ares and I with a tragic 'ups I was taken hostage and there was nothing I could do besides this' kind of accident and lets just say that no one was about to believe that story that easily.                 While debating what excuse to create in order to avoid being expelled, again... Something hit me faster than our crash.                  " My parents..." I whispere.                 " If by parents you mean the two zombie looking people outside the room that are angrier than a cobra, yeah... they are here." said Ares when he entered the room.                 " f**k! f**k! f**k!" I said pulling at the wires that were connected to me, " I need to get out of here. And fast!" I continued and tried jumping out of bed, but failed miserably, falling to the ground.                 With the adrenaline still running in my veins, I managed to grab the bed's edge and pull myself up. While doing so, I was probably looking like a messed up person that just didn't want to quit and maybe that was also the reason why Ares couldn't contain his laugh anymore and was about to fall on the ground.                 " Glad to see that my misery brings you joy. Also, how come you didn't get hurt from the fall. I'm all bits and pieces."                 " I landed on you, remember?" he said while getting up and making his way to my bed.                 "Well... that explains a lot." I answered pissed cause I couldn't get back on my feet.                 " Here." said Ares while putting the jell-o down on the table, " let me help you."                 " I dont need your help. I need to do this on my own so I can get the hell out of here before my parents transform into tornado parents instead of zombie parents." I continued to pull myself up.                 " Oh come on! You look so pathetic trying to rise yourself, it makes me feel pityfull and that's an emotion I never felt before, so here, let me help you just this one time."                 "This is the exact same thing you said to me and look where it got us." I huffed in exasperation.                 " I know and I feel sorry for it, that's why I'm trying to help you."                 " In case you didn't notice..." I said short of breath, but finally with my ass on the bed, " I'm doing just fine on my own, just like the time when you decided to go all ballistic on me and my car." I was still waiting for an explination for that.                 " Yeah... Such good memories..." said Ares looking in the distance with a smile on his face.                 " f*****g asshole!" I screamed and hit him in between the legs with my cast.                 " Tamara-Jayson Doukas!" my mom's voice was heard loud and clear.                 " Oh shit..." was all I got to say.                 " You apologise to this nice gentleman here or else you will be sorry."                 " Mom!" I tried puting on a smile while turning around to face her, " so nice to see you during day-time." okay, that probably wasn't my smartest move.                 " So you wanna play like this?! Fine!" she said full of rage.                 " I think I'm gonna go." said Ares more scared than I've ever seen him in my soon to be short life.                 " No. Do stay." said mom with such kindness in her voice that hairs went up my back, " the whole point of this game that Tamara started, is to see who gets embrassed first so please, do stay and enjoy."                 " I might not enjoy this..." he said barely audible and put his head down, making his way to a chair in the corner of the room.                 " Shall we start?" asked mom while planting herself in front of me.                 " Yes mother." I tried putting as much venom in the sentance as possible.                 " Good... I'll start, as it is my turn." she said it with a hint of joy in her voice.                 What the hell does this woman have on me that makes her so joyfull about it?                 It was all my mind could think about; trying to remember the f**k ups, things that I left uncovered, that I lied about badly so she would find out... You know, the usual.                 " Care to explain why your father found a bill from Earl's Mechanic Shop in the car this morning?"                 ARES, THIS IS ALL YOUR FAULT!                 " Unfortunate flat tire accident." I said with a smug smile on my face, trying to make is sound as real as possible.                 " So you are telling me that flat tire costed you 3000$? In what universe?!"                 " In the universe where you have to call a mechanic with a tow truck and move your car all the way to a mechanic shop and pay for the change and equalizing the tire plus paying for a new spare one cause I don't know if you know this, but the company forgot to put one in the car!" I finished with a mental pat on my back for doing such a good job at lying.                 " Okay, so flat tire. What happened to the bike and why wasn't it in the garage last night and in the middle of a random forest?"                 Ares... YOU ARE SO DEAD!                 " How do you know where was it?" I countered.                 " So you admit you didn't know where it was?" she tried blocking me.                 " I didn't admit anything. Yet, you just admit to putting a tracker on my bike. Care to explain why would you do such a thing?"                  " I think the situation you are in kind of explains itself."                  " Or, that you are absentee parents that are obsessed with control even though you are missing with weeks in a row."                  " That's enough!" thundered dad when he entered the room. " And you are wondering why we are disfunctional..."                 " I'm not wondering. I know exactly!" I said almost in tears.                 " Again with your stupid theory..." answered mom tired.                 " Yes, again with it 'cause until you prove to me that it is false, I won't give it up." I said spilling a tear and wipping it up fast so no one would see it.                 " What is she talking about?" asked my father while looking at my mom.                 " She believes that we loved her brother more than her cause while growing up she was clumsy and always getting into trouble and she just wasn't going to be the perfect kid like her brother and not even close to filling his shoes in. So after he left, we stopped spending time at home so we wouldn't see her face and barried ourselves in work so we won't be depressed for not having our favorite son at home. Did I miss anything?"                  " You nailed it mom." I sighted with a disgusted smile.                 " Okay, this is definitely not a discusion to have in the hospital. We will talk when you get discharged and you are at home. Now, Helen, our boss called, she wants us back for the experiment so we have to leave. See you tonight, I think... I hope..." said dad while leaning to give me a kiss on the forehead.                 When mom tried to do the same, I couldn't keep it in me so this happened, " Don't bother. I know you don't mean it and that when I get discharged you won't be home so, I'll be fine. See you when I see you." I said looking down so she won't see the hurt in my eyes.                 " Fine. See you when I see you." she said and turned around to leave. " Oh, and by the way, your butt is hanging out the robe." She said while walking out the room.                 " Love you too, mom..." I said more to myself than her.                 " Don't worry..." said Ares from the corner, almost forgoting about him, " I didn't notice and also, I can drive you home." he said with a small smile on his face, feeling embarassed for having to listen to this conversation.                 " Yay... My hero..." I said sarcastically and exhausted, laying down on the bed and covering myself with the blanket for comfort.
