Seth stormed straight up to Kai, who lay writhing on the gurney, clearly in pain. Without hesitation, he grabbed the man by the neck.
“How bloody dare you say that to her?” he growled.
“Argh!” Kai choked, struggling beneath Seth’s crushing grip.
“Seth, he’s in pain—get your hands off him!” Edith screeched, rushing forward.
“He’s heating up, Edith, and he wants you. I’m not bloody letting that happen.”
“I told you—don’t hurt him! Just find something—anything—to make him more comfortable.”
Seth’s jaw tightened as fury coursed through him. He let go of Kai with a violent shove and strode to a glass cabinet, yanked it open, and grabbed a syringe. Without a second glance, he jabbed it into Kai’s neck. Moments later, Kai went limp, unconscious.
