Sophie stood frozen, utterly gobsmacked by what was happening right in front of her. Her brain was trying to wrap itself around something that simply couldn't be real. She didn’t budge an inch, paralysed by a fear she hadn’t felt in all her years as a vampire.
“Sorry to drop the bomb like that, but it’s the truth. I am the werewolf you think I am,” Kai said, his voice laced with bitterness.
“But… how’s that even possible? A vampire and a werewolf?”
“You mean it’s not supposed to happen. Yeah, it’s not. I’m the first hybrid in this realm.”
Sophie eased herself down onto the bed, her eyes still locked on Kai. She wanted—no, needed—to hear the rest.
“I was cursed with vampire blood,” Kai began. “A witch did it on the Alpha’s orders back in my old pack. My punishment… for killing Luna.”
