/4/ HAPPINESS IS A FLEETING BUTTERFLY

1408 Words
It was almost a week left before Venus was about to take her oaths and accept Alpha Adonis as her husband. Several days went by and Venus kept her training in par with managing all her job in the main library.  The whole kingdom was beginning to regard her as their Luna. Dimitri, the delta too began to spend considerably more time with Venus. As time grew, he found it hard to control his evergrowing affection for Venus. In the training grounds, they practised with swords for almost an hour or so. Their swords were on spar with one another.  Dimitri could feel the genuine intensity with which she charged at him.  Venus' grip over the holster of the sword was getting considerably better with time. Though she gave the credit for it to Dimitri, he chose to differ on the subject.  "It's all you! You work extremely hard, Venus," He would tell her humbly. That day was no different.  When they were done with their training, Venus was the first to notify, "Today, I didn't get any compliments, sir."  "Sir? Don't get me in trouble, missy. Alpha Adonis would kill me if he saw you addressing me as sir (something one only uses for people that are above them in social position)." Dimitri explained.  Venus laughed it off and then narrated her reasons for the same, "You are however a teacher. How else should I address you?"  Dimitri gleamed and then responded, "Just my name. That would be rather appropriate."  They both smiled at each other and the atmosphere was rather light-hearted.  Dimitri almost teared up smiling with Venus, her Venus. When he wiped it with his index finger, he saw Adonis approaching him. He briefly contorted his face and then stretched her lips to force a smile.  "Alpha, you are here pretty early. Is something the matter?" Dimitri remarked. While approaching Venus, Adonis let out, "Actually, I had a short break. So, I dropped by to see if everything was going as scheduled."  "Yes Alpha, she has been doing extremely great. I don't know where she gets all this strength from?" Dimitri jumped in to respond, leaving Venus with an open mouth.  Adonis got furious over his treatment of Venus and exclaimed, "I didn't ask you to respond, Dimitri. Please try to be patient and let her speak."  "N… No, it's okay. I'm pretty sure that wasn't his intention, Alpha Adonis." Venus interjected.  Alpha smiled at her and exclaimed, "You're such a kind lady. Well suited to be a luna. I'm glad I could be your husband."  Venus' gaze plunged while plucking the petals of the flower that she had been carrying in her hand.  As for Dimitri, he didn't take the insult very well. While he apologised with an obvious frown, he never intended to. He didn't feel remorse but had to apologise for the sake of Adonis being the Alpha.  He then excused himself and left the two lovers by themselves. As he walked away from them, the thorns of getting his respect mutilated in front of his love made him furious. Nevertheless, he quietly walked away.  "What else could have I done?" Dimitri questioned himself. "Is there a way to avenge my wounded respect? Who am I kidding? I am just another Delta who doesn’t matter to anyone."  Saddened by the events of that day, Dimitri moved away to get deeper into the forest. He reclined beneath a weeping willow tree. The tree was said to be inhabited by a nymph. Those were the beliefs of the locals, but Dimitri had no knowledge of it.  As he sulked and sighed for the loss of his love at the hands of Adonis, a faint whisper made its way to his ear.  "What do you seek which brought you to me?" The voice inquired. Baffled, he looked around.  "Someone must be playing a trick on me or something. This can't be." He then paid no heed to it at the following moment and began to ponder on ways to conquer Venus.  "Pssst, you didn't respond. What is it you seek?" The voice came from the tree again. With a sharp grin on his face, he exclaimed, "I know you kids have nothing to do. That's why you try to trouble me in this manner. If I'll catch you guys, you're dead." Soon, a branch slithered around his neck. He failed to observe it. Thereafter, the tip of the branch tickled him by rubbing its tip on the ear of the man.  Devastated, he finally stood and let out a cry, "What do you want, kids? Stop troubling me."  The old tree dissipated its branches and a tiny orb of light appeared in front of him. He was baffled to see what had just transpired. The raspy feminine voice repeated, "What is it that you seek, young man?"  Without giving it a thought, the words escaped loose from his mouth, "Vengeance, destruction and glory!"  "Be careful of what you wish for," The nymph reminded. The man gave his wish one final thought and exclaimed, "Love. I want someone else's love to become mine." "That's an absurd thing to ask, young man. The strings of our fate are intertwined with one another. What you are asking for will inevitably tarnish that. The result, however, could be catastrophic as well. Do you still wish to continue?" The nymph clarified.  Looking back at the insult that was put upon him by the atrocious Alpha, according to his regard, made it pretty obvious what he’d wish for.  "Yes, that shall be my wish, nymph. Tear them apart and make the beautiful venue fall for me instead." The delta declared.  "That shall be it then. In return what would you offer to me?" The nymph enquired. The man turned the empty cloth in his pocket outwards and claimed, "I have nothing to offer you."  The thick orb then disappeared into the tree claiming, " That's for now. I will ask for something from you later on."  The magical tree sprinkled powdery dust of sparkles. He closed his eyes and when he opened them, he found himself in the denser part of the forest of Bransville.  "What am I doing here? What's all this? I thought the nymph granted me a wish. How come Venus is still not in my arms?' He complained while walking through the dense bushes. When he averted his gaze, the orb reappeared. "Follow me," The nymph demanded. By looking at the vegetation of the area, he realised where he was but kept plodding forward as had been instructed to him. Soon enough, they reached the other side of the forest where the wolves were restricted, the portion of the land from where human occupancy commenced.  "This is far enough," Dimitri concluded and stepped back.  The orb expanded and the angelic voice struck his ears again, "You want your wish to be granted, right? Then, work for it."  "W… Work? How am I supposed to do that? This is the part of the land that is inhabited by humans. If I'll move any further, I'll be in great trouble." The man explained.  The white orb expanded some more and the voice further instructed, "You don't want Venus to marry that proud Alpha, right? You want her to belong to you, right? What if I tell you there's a way to do that?"  "There is a way?  What's that?" He asked in all seriousness. The nymph disclosed, "If you'll head out to the land of the men to seek their help. Then, you can rage war against the Alpha and win your Venus back." "W… War? I will never do that. That would endanger my fellow wolves. I am the delta. I would never betray the Alpha, not even for love." He concluded and stepped back as he heard someone approaching him.  The orb began to turn to black and expanded further into a human form. It was a woman who wore all black. Soon tentacles appeared from the orb that grasped his arms and halted his movements.  "Help!" He yelled while the grasp of the tentacles strengthened over his arms and legs.  ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~  AUTHOR’S NOTE ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ Show your love and support to the author by adding this book to your library.  Thank You
