“Your every touch is like an ever lasting bliss. You mark my body with your dewy kisses and take me to a fantasy where there’s nothing but ecstasy. Your mouth is that dew of paradise that I wouldn’t refrain from tasting even if it was forbidden.”                                                                                                                - Neha M. ~HAMPLETON TOWN, 1982~ “I am soon to be married to the love of my life, Adonis,” I spoke as I stirred on my bed, imagining when the day would come. Just when I closed my eyes to catch a beautiful dream of him, I heard a whisper.  “Psst! Psst! ... Venus!”  Someone called out my name. I quickly opened my eyes back in pure horror and saw Alpha Adonis standing right before at the doorway. I stood up hurriedly and moved over to the door. While tucking my hair that fell on my face, I spoke, “I am sorry, Alpha. I would like to apologise for making you wait. It’s just that I was startled.”  “Apologise?” The alpha spoke tenderly. “I should be the one apologising for intruding your privacy, Venus.” When he spoke my name, my heart began to palpitate even harder. I was shaking. That’s how much I loved him. He moved into my room and settled onto my bed. I just glared at the beautiful man.  His beautiful black curls that covered his forehead seemed extremely alluring. With his azure eyes, he looked at me. I wanted to maintain the eye contact but my heart just couldn’t take it. He patted on the bed and asked me to sit beside him. I followed his instruction and moved towards him. Before I could sit, he held me by my waist and pulled me towards him.  Therafter, he carefully picked an extended strand of my hair and said, “It’s not just your face, love. I am in love with your soul. As the alpha of our clan, there’s not one day I don’t see bloodshed and gruesome things happening to my underlings. There was a time in my life when I almost believed there was no sincerity left in this world. It was you then who brought me back to the light. I owe my compassionate self to you, Venus. Furthermore, your kindness and innocence draws me towards you, my love.”  I couldn’t believe what I heard. Though he had always been considerate to me, he has never been too expressive about his feelings for me. I looked at him and said, “I am not sure if I’d been anything but a weakling tugging behind you wherever you go. You own your wisdom, kindness and gentleness to yourself. You’re a great man.” He held my waist sternly and sniffed my scent. Subsequently, he looked at me and spoke, “You smell like Bergamot. I love this. It is so intoxicating and comforting... You’re so comforting.” His head rested on my chest. I was embarrassed as he could clearly hear my heart palpitating harder due to his whiff.  “I ... umm...” After hearing him being too honest with me, I wanted to confess my feelings too but I was just too afraid. He was after all the alpha of our clan. I anyways tried again, “I ... think ...”  He looked into my eyes and asked tenderly, “Am I making you uncomfortable, Venus?” I shook my head and spoke hastily, “No. It’s just that I w ... want to tell you that I love you so much that I can’t even find appropriate words for expressing that at times.” “It’s the eyes, Venus.” He interjected.  I looked at him dumbfounded and asked, “Eyes? Mine?” He nodded as he spoke, “The eyes are the mirror to the soul. Your eyes express things that even your words can’t.” I smiled as tears welled up in my eyes. He wiped it with his finger and then spoke, “I don’t want to see any tears in your eyes, Venus. Not today. Not tomorrow. Never.” “I am sorry. It’s just that I just can’t help it. I still can’t wrap my head around the thought that I am soon going to be your wife, Alpha Adonis.” He wasn’t particularly expecting that from his mate. But I was a wuss. That was my reality. I had thought that I might get admonished.  He instead made me sit on his lap and cupped my cheeks. Though I was inexplicably nervous, his hands were warm. Our faces were extremely close. I could even feel his breath on me. That’s why I looked away. He grabbed my chin tenderly and turned my face to face him again.  “Did I do something? Are you scared, Venus?” He asked me while making me stare into his eyes. I covered my face with my palms and confessed, “I’ve never been so close to you. Hence, I get nervous. It’s hard for me to put it into words how I feel. My heart aches to see you part and I experience butterflies in my stomach whenever you’re around.” He didn’t respond but glared at me with a straight face. I was scared as I thought I said something that would’ve offended him. To my surprise, he drew me closer for a kiss. I placed my hands upon his chest and said, “Mother and father are still awake. They might come in.”  “No, they won’t. I have already instructed them I was going to spend some time with my future wife, Venus.” He confessed.  I hung my head down as I asked him, “Are you sure you want to marry me, Alpha?” He chuckled as he remarked while holding my jaw, “Why are you asking that, my lovely fiancée? Do you have someone else on your mind?”  I looked up. My eyes reflected not only my sadness that surfaced due to his words but also my insecurity. The insecurity that everyone was aware of. I was almost twenty one but I hadn’t shifted yet. Though I could feel the wolf that was inside me, I couldn’t converse with her directly. I just felt what she felt.  Alpha Adonis grabbed my jaw and placed a light kiss on my cheek. My gaze plunged as I was all flustered up. Consequently, he let go of my face and then announced, “I don’t care if you are strong or weak. I love you only, Venus. You will be my wife and bear our children for me. So, you better start working on yourself.” “Work on myself? How will I do that, Alpha?” I asked, still not being able to look directly into his eyes.  “I will arrange for the Delta Dimitri to train with you. He will watch over you and help you, I hope that helps, and don’t call me Alpha from now on.” He instructed.  I stood up from his lap and asked, “W... What do you mean? What shall I call you, then?”  He too stood and placed a kiss on my forehead. While I was lost in the sweetness of his touch, I couldn’t clearly respond to what he spoke before leaving.  It was probably: “Call me Adonis, Venus.”  ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ AUTHOR’S NOTE ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ Show your love and support to the author by adding this book to your library.  Thank you.
