Chapter 17

Chapter 17 [Eleanor]   Austin laughed and leaned forward with his arms on the table. “My mother, Mary, is a Ferus. She met my father, – Oscar some decades ago. He is a Lupus so for the it was hard at first, because a conflict between the clans was brewing… again. You might have noticed already, the different clans are not in the… best relations, to say the least.” “So is this why you are a Triad? Because your parents came from two different clans?”, I asked realizing just how much I had no idea about our world. “Nope. Your direct bloodline has nothing to do with it. You see, we all derive from the first Aberra, the first Triad. But then he turned a lot of people by feeding them his blood and performing a strong transfer spell. So essentially, we all carry the Triad heritage but most creatures have only one fully potent side and become a Magus, a Lupus or a Ferus. Being a Triad and having all three sides equally potent in your genes is quite rare.” “I see. So we are not all coming from the same bloodline and performing dirty i****t practices?” “Haha, no, of course not. The bloodlines are numerous, thousands maybe. Just because their supernatural gene comes from the first Aberra since he turned people back then, it doesn’t make us all relatives. I laughed and asked something that had been on my mind for a while now. “So it is possible that a Triad is born in a long bloodline of Magi?”, I asked, trying to explain to myself how I turned out to be a Triad when my parents were both Magi. “Yep. Next question?”, Austin asked playfully. “Why did you become a Trainer?”, I kept playing it on the safe side for now as I could feel the heat rising even since he moved closer to me. Playing with my hair, I leaned back in my chair and crossed my legs in front of me. “I like helping others. Easy.”, he laughed. “Come on, Eleanor, do you really want to know such boring things about me?” I laughed and set my eyes on his for a long moment. “What do you want to do?”, I asked. “What, you mean like with my life in general and if I have found the purpose of my existence?”, Austin chuckled as I leaned back to him. “No, I mean right now.”, I said. Our faces were just a few inches away and I saw his eyes drifting to my lips. Moving my gaze away from his for a second, I took my glass and took a sip while my finger was tipping on the glass. “What do you want to do in this very second?”, I asked again while swallowing the wine. Instead of replying, Austin cut the distance between us, his lips just an inch away from mine. I could feel his breath on my lips and we stared at each other’s eyes for a moment while his hand went for my neck and pulled me in the warm embrace of the kiss I had been waiting for ever since we came here. His lips were sweet and soft, glued for mine. I opened my mouth and let his tongue in, a knot forming in my stomach as I wanted more. More of him. “I want to pay the bill and get the hell out of here. Right now.”, Austin said while pulling away from the kiss and turning to give a sign to the waiter. “f**k this, let’s go.”, he said while leaving three a hundred dollar bills on the table and pulling me up. I followed him to the car, which was parked on the other side of the road, with my hand wrapped in his. We got in and he drove away, the heat and tension lingering in the air between us, before stopping the car a minute later on the side of a tiny road buried in the forest. I turned to face him and pulled him in for a kiss while his hands trailed from my waist down my dress, releasing all the pressure we were both holding for the past weeks. He put his hand under the thick fabric of my dress and grabbed the outer side of my hip, pulling me closer and then on top of him. With my hands around his neck and our bodies pressed tightly together in the small space of the car’s front seat, we kissed, our touch growing stronger and our kisses deeper. “I want to rip your clothes off.”, Austin growled in my ear and caused the knot in my stomach to grow even bigger. “But not here.”, he whispered and put his hands on the sides of my face, gently. I returned to my seat and fixed my dress with a smile on my face.   [Valerio]                                                                                                       We stood and watched as Austin’s hands were tight around Eleanor’s body. Our Eleanor, my wolf reminded us. He growled and turned our eyes away from them. My wolf was distressed, I could feel every emotion passing through his body now that we were in his form – anger, jealousy, sadness. He made us come here, following Austin and our Eleanor, which pissed me off even more. “We don’t f*****g need her!”, I hissed in our mind, trying to convince him that Eleanor was nothing but a prophetic disaster. I strongly refused to lose my freedom and bind to another being just because some f*****g legend said I was supposed to. No! NO! I screamed in our mind even louder, trying to make convince my wolf to turn back and get us home. As Austin started the car and drove away, my wolf stared behind them, unhappy. I had always, always been in sync with him – about our life, about our battles, about everything. But for the first time in decades, my wolf was pissed at me for refusing Eleanor. “I will not kneel down and give in. It is not who I am and you know it.”, I said to him in our mind. He growled and turned, running through the forest and leading us home. Reaching the Tower, we transformed back into my body and I sighed in relief – I could still sense my wolf’s thoughts and feelings, but more like a distant whisper. “My King!”, Lorenzo ran up towards me after I walked out of the changing room – a small room on the Tower’s ground floor where Triads and Lupi could go in, change back to human form and get dressed. “What’s up, Lorenzo?”, I turned to him and immediately noticed the concern on his face. “There has been an attack on a small Triad settlement. Fifteen minutes ago. South. We have to go, now!” “I am leaving immediately. You gather the High Council members, Jennifer, Austin and Eleanor and tell them to meet me there.” “Yes, sir.”, Lorenzo nodded and turned. An attack? I surely hoped it was a petty dispute between the clans, I thought to myself while taking another guard, Marcus, with me and striding towards the exit. “I’ll drive.”, I said to Marcus and left.
