Chapter 20

Chapter 20 [Valerio]   I watched Eleanor as she was looking at herself in the mirror, her hands touching her cheeks and her eyes wide in surprise. The colour of her irises had changed from green to dark red and she looked… stunning. “Sleep now. It will be a long day and the sun is up already.”, I told her and walked to the only bed in the room. I lied down and followed her with my eyes as she returned and her gaze scoured the room. Here, wolf, you happy?, I thought and tried to battle with the need to get up and press Eleanor against the wall again. It was just so that she does not get ill. I convinced myself and tried convincing my wolf as well. I could feel his happiness and satisfaction radiating in our mind, filling up our thoughts. Eleanor kneeled down and picked up her luggage bag from the floor. “I will take a shower and sleep on the couch.”, she said, not even looking at me. She looked embarrassed. Why the hell would she look embarrassed?! Women… you could never understand them. Eleanor turned around and went back into the bathroom. I could hear every little sound despite the closed doors – the zipper of her jeans going down, her underwear and pullover falling on the floor, the steps she took, the shower coming to life, the water hitting the ground and the splash noises that followed. I could hear everything. I jumped on my feet, desire to kick down the bathroom door and take her flooding me with such force I could not control it. NO! I screamed in my mind, refusing to allow Eleanor have control over me. I just fed her so she does not get ill, I repeated to myself and went back to the bed trying to escape the memory of her body under mine. And the memory of the pleasure, ecstasy and desire that consumed me while her lips were on my skin and her teeth were buried in my flesh. And the memory of the burn that lit in my body and soul as I was holding her tight… Jesus Christ, what was I going to do with that? With her? I heard the shower stopping and Eleanor taking a towel, drying herself. Then she opened her luggage bag and took something out. A minute later, the bathroom door opened and she stepped out wearing the most ridiculous pyjama I had ever seen wrapping up her body. I could not help but laugh at the sight to which she responded by shooting me an angry look. She was so cute when she was angry. “You might laugh at my pyjama, but it is doing its job at keeping me warm.”, she said and fixed the long fluffy sleeves over her elbows. I laughed even harder and had to again remind myself that I did not want her. I watched her as she opened the wardrobe and took out a cover and a pillow and put them on the couch creating a tiny bed for herself. “Good night.”, she said and lied down, covering herself and turning her back to me. “Good night.”, I said and turned off the lights.  My mind was wide awake and I could not stop turning and shifting under the covers. The sun was up and I only had a few hours to get some sleep. I looked at Eleanor who had curved her body in a ball on the small couch, sleeping peacefully. Her face was framed by her long hair and she looked innocent and vulnerable. If during the past month I hadn’t watched her from a distance I would have never guessed just how strong she was looking at her now. I sighed and got up from the bed. I walked over to her, removed the blanket she had covered herself with and left it on the armrest. Leaning down, I picked her up in my arms and carried her to the bed careful not to wake her up. Placing her down, I brushed the hair from her face and wrapped her in the soft bed cover making sure she was warm. I walked around the bed and lied down again, my mind drifting to sleep almost immediately as the satisfaction that Eleanor was warm and safe right next to me reached a depth in my mind I did not know existed.
