"You ungrateful brat! You're lucky to be engaged to Alina! You don't get a say in this!"
William's face turned red with anger as he pointed a trembling finger at Alexander.
Just then, Chris burst into the room. I had already noticed him eavesdropping outside, but I didn't expect him to shout, "I agree, Alex! You two should totally break off the engagement—because I've decided to pursue Alina!"
"Chris Lane!" Alexander and William shouted in unison.
Chris winced at their scolding and quickly turned tail, running out of the room.
William let out a weary sigh. "Chris is... Anyway, it's late. We'll discuss this more in the morning. Alina, why don't you stay here tonight?"
I nodded, and William added, "Alina, I'm afraid there's a bit of bad luck. All the available rooms are being renovated, so it looks like you'll have to stay in Alexander's room..."
I couldn't help but internally roll my eyes. 'This old man is so transparent!'
But I was too tired to argue after such a long day, so I agreed.
"Alright, I hope it won't be too much trouble for Alexander."
Alexander seemed to share my thoughts, silently leading me back to his room.
Once inside, I took a look around and realized I hadn't noticed earlier—there was only one bed.
Without a word, Alexander started undressing. I froze for a moment before calling out, "Wait a minute! Are you seriously going to sleep here too?"
He glanced at me, his tone matter-of-fact. "Where else? You heard my grandfather—there's nowhere else to sleep."
I was speechless, thinking he was definitely doing this on purpose—probably to get back at me for teasing him earlier!
As he continued undressing, I took a deep breath and started stripping down as well, declaring, "The right side of the bed is mine."
I hurried into the bathroom, determined not to back out.
Hot water cascaded from the showerhead, washing over me, but all I could think about was the sight of Alexander earlier... and William's comments about "stamina" and "strength."
I smacked my cheeks lightly, scolding myself, 'Alina, don't complicate things!'
After my shower, I noticed a red slip dress hanging outside the bathroom. The fabric was soft, and the design... extremely sexy. It didn't take a genius to figure out William had arranged for it to be left there. 'That old fox!'
With a resigned sigh, I slipped into the dress, knowing I didn't have much choice unless I wanted to sleep in dirty clothes.
When I stepped out, Alexander was sitting on the bed, reading. He looked up at the sound of my footsteps.
He was wearing a tight black tank top that perfectly outlined his muscular arms and broad chest, showcasing his impressive physique. He looked incredibly sexy.
My outfit seemed to catch him off guard. His eyes lingered on me for a few seconds before he quickly looked away, returning to his book. Even though he hid it well, I caught the flicker of admiration in his gaze.
I deliberately walked over to him, did a little twirl, and asked with a teasing smile, "How do I look? Your grandfather picked it out for me."
My tone was playful, and my eyes were full of challenge.
Alexander looked up again, this time taking his time as he surveyed me. Then he smiled—a slow, charming smile that sent shivers down my spine. "You look beautiful."
His voice was deep and husky, laced with a raw magnetism that made my heart race.
"Thanks for the compliment," I said, grinning. Then, leaning closer, I whispered in his ear, "But I think you look even better."
With that, I quickly retreated to the bed, slipped under the covers, and settled in.
Maybe it was the exhaustion from the past few days, but I fell asleep almost instantly.
When I woke up, I found myself using Alexander as a human pillow, clinging to him like an octopus. My face was buried in his chest, and I could feel the strong, steady beat of his heart.
My gaze drifted downward, and I noticed that the blanket covering his lower half was... suspiciously tented.
I quickly lifted my head, only to find Alexander already awake, looking at me with a mix of frustration and... something else in his eyes.
I offered a sheepish smile and greeted him nonchalantly. "Good morning, Alexander."
"Could you let go of me now?" His voice was laced with exasperation and... was that a bit of roughness?
Only then did I realize I was still clinging to him. I quickly released my grip and scrambled off him.
But Alexander didn't move, making no effort to get up. I stared at him, suddenly realizing that given his current situation... getting up might be a bit inconvenient.
In a desperate attempt to break the awkwardness, I blurted out, "Um... you know, your grandfather was right—you do seem to have plenty of stamina and strength!"
As soon as the words left my mouth, I regretted them. 'What the hell am I saying?! Great, now it's even more awkward.'
