CHAPTER 11 Liliad was sitting where she always was, gazing out of the big picture window toward the slice of sea visible between the roof tops opposite, her focus on the far horizon. I dropped my bag on the floor and went to sit beside her. ‘I’ve just got back from the detective agency and he says he should have something for me by the end of the week.’ I turned Liliad’s head toward me determined to keep her attention. ‘You’d have laughed if you’d seen him, he looks really young; it was so embarrassing as I couldn’t believe he was who he said he was to start with.’ I paused, waiting for some reaction which wasn’t forthcoming. ‘He reminded me of baby-faced DC Wilson – you remember him, don’t you, Inspector Munroe’s sidekick?’ As I stared into Liliad’s eyes my levity of spirit slowly sank
