Appearance's Change

Truth be told, i didnt want to go to sleep that night. Not only was family dinner draining on me both in mind and body but i knew that i was going to have another one of those dreams tonight and i really, really wasn't looking forward to what happens. I mean i saw that little pond in the forest with all the flowers around it, the Raven and him. That massively attractive guy who keeps claiming I'm his mate but nothing can be weirder than my literal appearance changing because of these dreams.

I paced around my studio apartment trying to keep myself busy so i wouldn't fall asleep. I did some exercise, took an ice cold shower, drank almost an entire thing of coffee and yet at the end of it all i couldn't fight my bodies response to sleep. Finally at 3:43 in the morning i threw on a simple pair of black leggings and the white t-shirt i wore the day before and crawled into my bed, sleep finally coming for me.

"Of course." I sighed deeply as i looked around the area. My dreams weren't even trying to cover up the fact that i was here now, i went to bed and boom; I'm in that forest. I didnt even need to wait for the Raven to show me the way. This time i took it upon myself and began marching into the woods; deeper and deeper.

The trees were tall and getting closer and closer together as i navigated my way through them. Of course i knew the way, I've already been there. I looked up into the sky and saw that the moon was almost complete, taking on a faint pinkish glow. The surrounding area seemed to glow almost like magic, the trees parting to reveal that little pond. I stopped in my tracks, eyes going wide. Sitting at the water on a log that was most definitely not there last time was a beautiful woman.

She was tall and slender, her long legs were dipped into the water; she had on a sheer white dress that was pulled up to her knees so she didnt get it wet. Her hair reminded me of the first snowfall. She looked so elegant, so regal; i didnt dare to breath let alone move as i watched her laugh as she threw some of the petals from the white orchid on to the waters surface.

Moving as slowly as i could i walked backwards trying to get away from this area when the Raven decided to make noise and startle me. I whipped my head around to give it my best glare and when i turned back around the woman was standing directly in front of me, her eyes were as white as the moon. Her delicate pink lips held the most beautiful smile and seeing her up close i wondered how she could wear something so sheer but nothing was visible from under neither.

"I knew you would come back here child. I have seen it many times before you." Her voice sounded like the wind itself, so soft yet carried a tone that commanded my entire being. She inched closer staring deeply into my eyes, and i felt compelled to stare back deep into her own. It was almost like i knew myself better than ever, like SHE knew me better than ever. Her pale small hands came up and caressed my face, cupping my cheeks she brought her face to mine and kissed my lips oh so sweetly.

"My daughter, i have been waiting for you." She was gone in a flash and i sank to my knees. Bringing my hands up to my trembling lips i touched where she had kissed me. Then i sprang to my feet and started running around the open area with the pond trying to find that woman. I felt like i knew her deep down in my heart, that she and i were one in the same yet at the same time not.

"Child, you may stop running. I am here." I skidded to a stop and slowly turned my head. She was sitting back on the long with her feet in the water, the light from the pale pink moon making her skin glow as she playfully kicked her feet around in the water.

"Do i know you? i feel like i know you." I said to her as i watched her break out into a loving smile. She gestured towards me to come and have a seat next to her. I don't know how to explain it but i felt so safe near her; like i have known her my entire life. I took a seat next to her and crossed my legs on the log so i didnt get my clothes wet. I was wearing the same thing i got dressed in before i went to bed. She reached over and plucked a white rose from next to her and began tracing its petals.

"All who are my children know who i am. Yet you haven't been able to feel me just yet." I looked at her as she stopped playing with the rose and looked at me. An idea hit me.

"Are you my wolf?" I asked carefully hoping not to offend her. She threw her head back and laughed, it sounded so magical i almost wanted to laugh with her. Her white hair was spilling around her making the moons light reflect off of it.

"No my child, i am not your wolf though i am mother to all wolves." I gasped, no way was i sitting here with the Moon Goddess herself. I scrambled off the log and got onto my knees bowing down to her.

"Oh Goddess i didnt mean to offend you, i am so sorry." I exclaimed to her keeping my head as low to the ground as possible. I felt her hand on my head as it traveled down to my child and she lifted it to look deep into my eyes.

"Hush now, none of that. You are here my child because i have chosen you to be something most special. Now please come back and have a seat, i find that i rather enjoy your company." She patted the log next to her and i stood and went back to my seat, my heart racing a mile a minute.

"You are a wonderful child, so strong and so pure. You would have made a great Alpha." I grimaced as i felt ashamed that i planned on leaving. She placed her hand on my knee, the other hand twirling the rose.

"Do not fret my child, i know that is not what you wish. I also know that there are greater things for you that lie beyond the territory of your pack. I must tell you that something has begun to shift the balance of the magical world. I trust you, and only you to be my eyes are ears in the world. You are my most precious child and i wish to bestow upon you a most precious gift from me." I stared at her wide eyed.

"But im just 17, i mean ill be 18 on Friday-"

"Tomorrow my child, you will be able to communicate with your wolf tomorrow." That's right, it was already the next day by the time i went to sleep; but why me? What so special about me that the Moon Goddess herself would be willing to come to me in my dreams?

"Why choose me? There are so many other wolves who would be suited for this. I'm just going to be a teenage runaway after graduation. I'm going to be letting my pack down and leaving behind everything. I cant be trusted with something like this!" I cried to her as i wrapped my arms around myself.

"That's exactly why i picked you. You have been so tough your whole life and i know deep down you are a wonderful, caring and heartfelt person. I have seen what you do my child and i can tell you that you will do great things. All i ask is for you to trust me." Her eyes were filled with hope as she reached out with the hand that had to rose in it to me.

"Do you accept my blessing and are willing to help me keep this world safe for all?" My hands trembled at the thought of the Mood Goddess asking me to help save the magical balance. I looked deep into her eyes and all i saw there was love; only love. I took in a shaky breath and exhaled slowly.

"If its you who is asking me then i will do whatever you wish my Goddess." I reached out and took the rose, a thorn in it cut my finger and I felt a sharp pain causing me to drop the white rose into the water; the drop of my blood on it falling into the water. All of a sudden, I got really light-headed and reached up with my non-bleeding hand to grasp my head. The Moon Goddess took my bleeding hand and ripped a piece of her dress and wrapped it around my finger, she kissed it gently and with the softest voice said-

"So mote it be."

And i fell .

I flung myself from my bed onto my floor, gasping and panting for breath; my head spinning. I stood up slowly and made my way to the bathroom, grabbing my toilet i removed everything that i had eaten yesterday into the toilet. Finally feeling a bit better i slid onto the floor next to the toilet and flushed. Rubbing my temples i felt something weird and looked at my hand. There was some fabric wrapped around it where i had been bleeding; a tiny spot of red could be seen on the fabric. Sighing deeply i got up to brush my teeth but stopped when i looked in the mirror.

My hair had turned all white!
