"I died," Ruth said directly without beating around the bush, and they both stared, freezing with blank expressions. After Alexander got Ruth's message, he immediately grabbed Raymond while filling him in about the whole situation. They both had questions to ask and were looking forward to getting answers. They ran downstairs and met Ruth resting her back against the wall. She looked pale and tired, so they helped her, passing through the back to an abandoned old chemistry laboratory. Alexander angrily asked where she had been all this time and why she didn’t show up. Her answer was the one already stated. “I died.” Those two words sounded unreasonable to them, as her mere existence was proof to argue with her short answer. But she didn’t wait for them to think much before continuing
