THE FORGOTTEN PRINCE

CHAPTER ONE Dishana’s POV "You have to push Ana" a voice called, I groaned in pain collapsing against the bed. I was tired, figures blurred in front of my eyes, always the blurring figures and then the lights that shielded them hiding them from reach. I wanted to know what lay beyond the fog were the people I knew. The figures came at night, in dreams, always in dreams and each night when the dreams came I tried looking beyond those shadows all I ever ended up with was a splitting headache and as much confusion as the day before. Today was a little different though, I was awake, I was in pain. That had never happened before. "I love you" a voice whispered, it was a male voice calm and soft coming from so far away that I wasn't sure it was speaking to me. "Come back" it echoed. "Who's there?" I called. "Come out" No one did though, no one ever did come out. " Ana you have to wake up, stay with me" a voice so much closer pleaded. I was Dishana, not Ana. My name was Dishana Grey, I tried to say it but no words came , I was not alright. I tossed and turned my legs bunched up,my brown hair was splayed across my face, sweat dotting my forehead and then a sudden pain in my waist had me bellowing. "That's right you are almost there. Just one more push" the voice urged. I was breathing heavily,my brow dotted with sweat and the monitor by my bed that kept beeping in time with my heart. A cry filled the air of a small baby, I heaved, reaching for her, the nurse put her in my arms and I swallowed. She was so small , so soft, my eyes drooped close and the machine began whirring loudly and the world went black. My eyes blinked open softly. Where was I? It was a hospital of some kind but I wasn't sure how I'd gotten here. Why was I even here in the first place? My head hurt as I tried to recall, just how I might have gotten here. I glanced down at the hospital bed, my stomach that was round protruding, with twitching fingers I reached for it, my hands flexing each time. Was i still pregnant, there was no thumping, no movement. Each time I tried to recall though my head throbbed with pain and the beeping monitor sang even louder. "You're awake" a nurse asked, running towards me. She was slim with red hair packed in a bun and a smile on her face. "Where am I " I croaked. Embarrassed, clearing my throat looking at the nurse. " Saint John, I'm Carrie "she murmured softly as she pulled away the blanket and wrapped the blood pressure cuff around my arm. " How did I get here? I can't remember" I asked,my voice clearer " You were in a car accident dear, with your injuries everyone was very surprised that you survived " she said , I watched the monitor and hummed when it showed her what she wanted " You're good, " " And my family I asked my voice barely a whisper afraid of what the answer would be, the nurse sighed her lips upturned in a sad smile " There's no one, " " How about my baby" I croaked she paused as if not sure what she was supposed to say " Who" I pleaded " Well the lady, whom you were carrying the baby for has come for her" I remained in bed shocked, a surrogate. I was a surrogate. I knew my name but that was all, I'd been in a coma for six months carrying this child like a living incubator and had only woken up a month to my due date yet for some reason I couldn't believe that this child was just borne of such a dispassionate arrangement. That I would have even agreed to such an arrangement. The nurse urged me to take my time, to try not to force the memories, that they would come back in time but it was difficult to do so sometimes. Two days later my benefactor came to see me, she was a pretty older woman, much older than I was and definitely more polished and refined. Her blond hair was coiffed in a smooth style that fit her small face she was accompanied by a younger woman who was equally beautiful " Ana" She said with a small smile that didn't quite fit or reach her eyes " Hello, " I paused gulping " I'm sorry, I don't remember you" " That's alright. I'm, Ella and this is Aileen" she replied sitting by the bed, She reached to touch my hand but I caught her hand midway. It felt wrong I didn't understand why but it felt wrong. Aileen smiled pulling her hand away " Carrie told me you can't remember. Aileen is the baby's mother" she said softly her lips in a smile that didn't quite reach her eyes and did nothing to convince me that my feelings were wrong. " Are you sure " I asked and the woman froze, her eyes glinting dangerously as she rose from the bed " I believe, my son and I would know the surrogate we hired " " And where is he? Your son" I asked desperately, they had to be a way I could confirm or deny my suspicions " Adrias is away for work" she replied the name rang some primal bell in me but I just couldn't remember why. " I have doubts can he come" I asked and she huffed " And then what? You are helpless, I decide who is telling the truth, I decide if this baby is ours or not Ana" she bent low to my ear and whispered " I don't care if this baby is yours all I know is it's my son's and if you think I will let you get away with stealing from us again, you're sorely mistaken" she gritted. I froze, the baby was mine the heart monitor was beeping out of control " Why are you doing this " I cried repeatedly as the nurses ran into the room towards them, she straightened " I don't think she's well, she keeps saying the baby is hers " she muttered plastering a sad and worried face, I fought the nurses " It's my baby, she's lying,it's my baby" I cried a nurse stabbed me with an injection. " Bring back my baby" I cried as my eyes closed and I felt drowsy.
