Chapter 3; I Chose Him, Right In Front Of Everyone

1111 Words
Cielo POV. It was him—the man with the deep blue eyes. He stood tall, shoulders squared, gaze locking onto Lance with a heavy, commanding pressure that silenced the whole crowd instantly. His voice dropped low, deep and thunderous, every word sharp and absolute. “Take your hands off her. Now. Before you regret it.” He stepped forward, towering over Lance, his presence alone forcing Lance to step back. “You heard her. She ended it. She’s done speaking to you. You have no right to touch her, no right to demand anything from her, and certainly no right to stand here and play the victim after you let her drown right in front of your eyes.” His eyes narrowed, tone turning biting and authoritative. “You chose that woman the second you dove past your girlfriend. You chose her the second you believed her lies without a single thought for the woman you claimed to love. You lost your right to judge her, to lecture her, or to even look at her the moment you made that choice. Back off. Stay back. If you step one foot closer, you’ll answer to me.” The weight of his words crushed the air out of the scene. Lance stood frozen, mouth agape, completely overpowered. Margaret went pale, shrinking back. Everyone held their breath, stunned silent by the absolute dominance in every word he spoke. A murmur rippled through the crowd, loud and sharp. Everyone here knew exactly who Lance Devince was—heir to the Devince empire, powerful, influential, someone no one ever dared to cross. To see a stranger stand tall and challenge him like this was unthinkable. Eyes darted between them, jaws dropped, whispers exploded. No one interfered; no one dared. Lance’s face flushed dark red, humiliation and pride burning hot in his eyes. He stepped forward, chest puffed, voice booming like a declaration. “Do you have any idea who you’re talking to?!” he roared, pointing a finger straight at the man. “I am Lance Devince! I own this land, this house, every single thing you see around here! I hold power over businesses, over people’s lives, over everything in this city! I can ruin you with one phone call. I can make sure you never work here, never step foot in any decent place, never even show your face in this society again. You think you can embarrass me? You think you can stand against me? I can crush you like a bug—without even trying!” He paused, breathing hard, sure his name and status would be enough to make anyone cower. But the man with the blue eyes just tilted his head. His lips curled into a cold, mocking sneer. He shrugged his broad shoulders, completely unbothered, like Lance’s big speech was nothing more than useless noise. “Is that all?” he said, voice flat and dismissive. “I don’t care who you are. I don’t care what you own, what power you hold, or what you think you can do. Your name means nothing to me. Your threats? Even less. You can throw your weight around all you want—it won’t change the fact that you’re nothing but a coward who let the woman he claimed to love die right in front of him.” He turned his gaze away from Lance instantly, as if he wasn’t even worth looking at anymore, and looked straight at me. His expression softened, steady and sure. “Cielo,” he said, low and clear. “Do you want to get out of here? Come with me.” Lance snarled, stepping forward aggressively, eyes wild. “Cielo! Get over here—now! You don’t know who this nobody is! Come to me!” I didn’t move an inch. I didn’t even glance his way. I stood right where I was, sheltered by this stranger’s frame, and answered without hesitation. “Yes. I want to go. I’m coming with you.” Lance’s composure shattered completely. He stepped closer, voice rising, sharp and frantic, desperate to regain control. “You’re making a huge mistake!” he shouted. “You think you can throw everything away for some random guy? Let me tell you—if you walk away with him, if you even think about cheating or leaving me, I will break up with you! I’ll throw you out! You’ll get nothing from me! You’ll regret this for the rest of your life!” I turned my head and fixed him with a glare—cold, sharp, full of all the pain and anger I’d held back for two years. Threatening to break up with me? As if I still wanted him. As if he hadn’t already broken everything between us the second he swam past me. Without saying a single word, I turned fully toward the man beside me. I lifted my hands, wrapped them tight around his neck, pulled his face down to mine, and pressed my lips to his. It was fierce, hot, and unapologetic—passion pouring into every second. I kissed him like I wanted everyone to see. I kissed him to erase every memory of Lance’s touch. I kissed him to say this is my choice now. I kissed him to show Lance exactly how little he meant to me anymore. The whole garden went dead silent. Lance stood frozen, mouth hanging open, face twisted in pure disbelief and rage. Margaret clutched his arm, trembling. And I stayed right there, holding onto the man who saved me, kissing him like it was the only thing that mattered. He kissed me back instantly—hungry, deep, and demanding, his grip firm and possessive. Every movement spoke of want, of claiming me completely, wiping away every trace of Lance’s touch and memory. When we finally pulled apart, breathless and burning, he didn’t set me down. He slid one arm under my knees, the other tight around my back, and lifted me effortlessly into his arms. He turned his gaze straight to Lance—who stood rigid, face pale, eyes wide with shock and rage, unable to utter a single word. The man’s lips curled into a cold, mocking smirk. His voice was low, sharp, and cutting, no extra words, just pure scorn. “A man easily fooled is a waste. And your stupidity… will ruin the Devince Empire.” He didn’t wait for a reaction. He turned on his heel, carrying me securely against his chest, and walked straight out—leaving Lance standing frozen in the middle of his own mansion, humiliated, defeated, and exposed to everyone watching.
